My first two years setting for K9 I used commerical bait. (Widowmaker, Preadtor plus, etc.) No luck. The third year I switched to chuncks of fresh deer, beaver, or muskrat and I hammered them. Just my experience.

I like the Seven Oaks Beaver bites Have had good success using this bait. More than just good bait from Seven Oaks, he has a nice line of lures also. He is also a member here.

I used Caven's Hiawatha and it worked, but the best for me is beaver, deer and squirrel "parts".
I do drive my wife nuts saving containers for all kinds of stuff. Chicken, turkey, fish leftovers, etc.
Caught a fox on some sardines (mink / coon set) and a yote using hamburger...
My barn smells a little... "tainted"... these days.

Appears coyotes like a variety of things.Hint hint. They aren't naturally chasing around a meal every night that smells like perfume.Animal parts and or smells attract other animals, naturally.

If you are using loud bait and lures you might be using too much. Just put a stick in the lure bottle and what sticks to it is enough and a teaspoon of bait is plenty. Give a small shot of urine and you're good to go.

Empty the stomach contents of your fox or coyote and use for bait. Used this method during the fur boom era Also freeze out your urine for stronger concentrated urine doesn't hurt to add 2to3 drops of skunk essense to urine.

Well I got this grey this morning in a cable restraint a few yards away from my bait pile ( deer scraps, coon carcasses' ) I tried a few dirt holes with commercial baits but the 'yotes and fox just aren't interested.

My favorite is liver chunked up and marinaded in Jamison's bait solution. Coyotes in my neighborhood well really work a hole trying to get it.
