Apparently we(Michiganders) got the vacation side with the beaches.
Its a long shore line for sure. Further up north, above Muskegon its more rocky.
Then you run into Harbor Springs area. $$$$$$$$$$$

You got that right! All the sand we keep dumping to sustain our beaches on this side gets washed away and donated to Michigan beaches. Here's a shot of the same area during the summer showing the thin strip of gravel beach. This time of year its easy walking though and the ice is probably 5 feet thick from the waves lapping against the shelf.
