well I have added another hobby to the list... been attending bee keeper meetings and put my order in for a hive setup. so the list now is... learning to weld, bbq stuff, butcher deer and make stuff out of it, a summer trap shooting league, fishing and hunting.... yea my wife may kill me... hopefully she doesn't sell my stuff for what she thinks I paid for it

just saw a brand new hive still in the box for the new bee keeper. Has ever thing you need to get started has a smoker, hive tool, bee suit, two ten frame boxes 1 super ,top , bottom, frames and some other stuff. So I going to pick it up Monday. Paid maybe to much. But got it for 50.00.

It should go good with my other two hives.

With a little luck she'll sell it for what it's worth and you'll go to your grave with her thinking what a great investor she was married to.

If she's anything like my wife, it all goes to the dump.

Yes I would paint them. Any outdoor paint any color. I feel like if you invest your money in any equipment especially if it sits outside all year protect it if you can. Bees are great! Have fun. Sorry for your loss. May you keep many fine memories close to your heart. I can't imagine your pain. God bless you and your family in this time.

Life sure is tough when you don't learn from the mistakes of others.

Thanks it's rough but his struggle is over.

I was debating between paint or someone mentioned Waterlox in something else I was reading.

We have a great beekeeping supply store right down the road, LOTS beekeepers here every place I trap has at least 10 hives. I'm very sorry for your loss, loosing someone to drugs that gas struggled with it for a long time is like loosening someone who has been fighting a terminal illness you no that it could happen any day but you hope and pray they beat it but when it happens you no there not hurting or struggling any more.

my wife has started down the road towards beekeeping as well - and I'm being dragged along with her.

she did an introductory meeting with the local keepers, and has signed us up for a class that meets about 8 weeks this spring.

im curious, without finding a good deal on stuff - how much investment are we talking about to get started?
