Any difference or advantage to grinding bait vs chunk when tainting bait meat?

I would think it would taint faster if ground up before aging.

Better and faster aging penetration into the meat when ground, more thorough penetration of your preservatives minimizing hot spots, better ingredient penetration. Chunk meat is just fine if you work it well and stir it frequently to get the same contact it needs to get a good coating of all that is needed.

a nice paste can be smeared anywhere. smeared on the roof of a dirthole, up under a rock, on a bone etc. I use plastic butter knives. just keep several in the pocket of my bag with the bait jar.

I offer both since some customers like to be able to peg/pin the chunk in the dirthole.

But as Bob mentioned, it takes more frequent stirring.

its harder for a critter to steal all your bait if its ground up and even if they do it soaks into the dirt. But a pinned down chunk would be virtually impossible to steal without getting caught unless your trap is froze in. LOL it happens im ashamed to say
