2008-2011 - My son wrestled for the U.S. Military Academy at West Point.
He is now a Captain in the 101st Airborne, earned a Ranger and a Sapper Tab while serving two combat tours in Afghanistan with distinction.
The highest highs and lowest lows that wrestling deals out has helped with his success.
Endeavor To Endure.
Nice!

My son Noah is sixteen (you've seen him in action on here a few times) was pretty good in his youth club wrestling days. Here he is pinning some kid in an "Oklahoma" wrestling uniform. Noah thought that was pretty funny...He loved beating kids in flashy "elite" clubs and individuals that traveled from afar. Always came off of mat from those matches with a huge grin and loved shaking the other coaches hand or the other dad's hand, in some cases, after sticking their "star." I wrestle, And nothing makes me more glad that I'm wrestling than doing the same thing. Did it last night in a dual in fact. He wasn't wearing a flashy uniform, but pinned me twice last year, both in the second period and wearing a snazzy uniform. I pinned him, Ironically, In the second period!

I wrestled in High school for 2 years , and my daughter did youth wrestling for 2 years.
it was a good experience , but I am not a "wrestling parent" , here it is like it's own cult , they are happy to let you join and you can leave any time but they are intense about their wrestling , the whole family , it can be an all consuming sport for the whole family all winter , there is a tournament every Saturday and Sunday some people go to both , then practice minimum of 2 nights a week for the kids and it starts in kindergarten.
when i was a kid wrestling started in highschool , I did it for 2 years it was fun , I learned a lot and got in better shape made it near impossible to buy a dress shirt without having to custom ordering the neck size thats ok I hate dressing up any way

My youngest wrestled. He was good when he wanted to be. He always put in 110% in practice, but he'd let himself get inside his own head or just get plain burnt out after months of practice, tournaments, then district matches. Even at 6% bodyfat there were weight struggles I didn't agree with in the least. Several times I told the coach to bump him up, or bench him. He's not "cutting" when he's 6%body fat. I drive by the highschool each night, and think back to the nights I got to watch the team, and my son give their best on the mat.

My son wrestled in High School, bumped from 189 to Heavyweight and won the districts. He had several offers to wrestle in college but did not take them. My oldest grandson, Tim, wrestled thru high school,(blew his knee out as a Senior), but he was a far better baseball player than wrestler, 470 average in 2 years of varsity ball, 1 error in 56 games at first base. In the Commie state of New Jersey he was blacklisted by the newspapers and was not on any of their all star teams because they mistakenly thought his father was my brother Parker, a Republican State Assemblyman! He now does TV interviews of high school wrestlers after matches for Mugs Media. My 2 younger grandsons (5th and 2nd grade) are wrestling in the grammar school leagues now. Both of them are also very good baseball players. The 5th grader has been invited to and played in Florida the last 2 summers.

I wrestled from when I was in 1st grade thru high school. I was a walk on at a small college in Colorado but only stayed for 1 semester. My nephew has state today and tomorrow for Jr. high. I'll be headed there shortly. My 4 year old will do the bantam wrestling starting in March. This will be his 2nd year.

Wrestling was the best thing let alone the best sport I ever did, from 6th grade through college. Never was real good, but I did the summer tournies and wrestling camp at Penn State a bunch of years. Made me strong, and competitive. It is the best sport for shaping a young man, though my son is into Tai Kwan Do, which is kind of similar, if not as physical as wrestling. Great to see the photos of kids in it. Here in central PA it is still a big deal. Then again, we are not afraid to be men here, either.

My son wrestled all 4 years of HS back in the late 90's. I loved going to all the meets. Did not hardly miss one. However he was a heavyweight and his matches were almost always the last one. There was some long, long time sitting in the bleachers for me. His senior year he blew his knee out at practice. Wrestled with it all wrapped up tight the whole year. It was important to go to the state meet being a senior. The Monday after the meet he seen a Dr. Then straight to the specialist. Had surgery to stich up all what was wrong in the knee. Them High School years went by pretty fast.
