Overall I like the expedition. Easy on gas, you can crawl through deep snow and stay right on top, comfortable for long rides, quiet. The only thing I don’t like about it is the weight. I find it to be front heavy. Wouldn’t be my first choice for “positioning” for wolves in the rougher areas of the mountains. Excellent for trapping, hunting bear and wolverine but wolves can gallop and the extra weight of the ace doesn’t help. Maybe if I tooled around with the shocks it would be better. Mine was meant to be used for trapping in the delta so it serves its purpose well.

It works for wolves. It’s just different I guess after driving two strokes my whole life.

Cousin Butterhead is a good trapper. He was working earlier this winter on the inuvik to tuk highway Once he finished he set a couple snares and i kept giving him a few more snares whenever i had some in my pocket. I gave him some of my whale oil castor bait too. He just called to tell me hes got a big heavy wolverine to skin. Nailed it in a conibear and picked it up yesterday. We use the same trail up to a lake where he goes straight across and i go right. Weve been piling carcasses there and just last week i considered moving a 330 box right to the spot. I changed my mind though because crows would likely ruin a nice wolverine if it was to get caught. He said there is another one hanging around there too. Seasons done today though. Already looking forward to next year. Maybe ill sponsor him a couple hundred snares just to see what he catches.

I made a quick round trip to my goose camp this evening. Had a good bbq at my parents with 4 different pies to choose from before i left. I chose lemon pie with whipped cream. It was great.
All i wantedd to accomplish on this trip was getting a trail made and checking the tent out for damage. I knew the bear ripped the front last fall and luckily the winter winds didnt make the damage any worse. Im going to get some lumber and raise the walls a couple feet on my next trip out that way. I made it low for staaying hidden but its not like 2 more feet will scare all the geese away. Fresh wolf tracks coming home but no luck in the dark today. Looking forward to geese hunting again. 17 lynx in the house right now. Some on boards both fur in and out and 6 that will be thawed for skinning tomorrow. Most likely bring in 6 more tomorrow to be thawed and ready by sunday. Busy time of the year but its the best time of year!

Freddy's wolverine was an older one. Very heavy. The width of the neck and the front arm show the size pretty good. This one below was caught by my buddy Patrick, we used to hunt mice together with bb guns and my Grandparents still call him "Mousehunter" when they see him. His is a big male too. Big but more in its prime than Butterhead's.

Man I thought I had King of the swamp rapped up, when I got #4 today. Patrick and Butterhead might come out of nowhere and seize the crown. When you play the game of thrones for the swamp you win or you go back to the mud.a Elevation rule. Section two line 6. Sorry 411 but your just outside the KOTS boundary. Buy Georgies cabin and you can be king of the island, undisputed. I pulled everything about 2 weeks ago. Might be tempted to shoot a biggun if i see one in the mountains though. Me and jordan seen a grizz on march 25th one year. First tracks out by my place has been april 2nd and 5th in the past two springs.

Sold the last 5 marten and a few more lynx today. Still a few lynx to sell but ill put those away to pay for my spring geese hunt. Ive been saving a few wolves to pay for the hunt since i started taking everybody along but i havent got much this year, grand total of two (so far) Morgan has probably seen over 450 lynx skins since she was born. The two older kids took out the tacks and brushed out this bunch of fur all by theirselves.
