The president said the administration would look “very strongly” at the option for “concealed carry” at schools, but acknowledged that “a lot of people will be opposed to it.”
“Concealed carry only works for people that are very adept at carrying a gun,” Trump said. “Where a teacher would have a concealed gun on them, go for special training and they would be there and you would no longer have a gun free zone.”
Trump added: “A gun-free zone to a maniac, they’re all cowards, it’s ‘let’s go in and attack because bullets aren’t coming at us.’”
The president said that an attack lasts, on average “three minutes.”
“It takes five to eight minutes for first responders. So the attack is over. If you had a teacher who was adept at firearms, they could very well end [the attack],” Trump said. “We are looking at that very strongly. A lot of people will be opposed to it. A lot of people are gonna like it.”
This quote by the president is more of an indictment of the federal department of education than anything to do with gun laws. Why does the president have ANYTHING to do with what happens in my local school? 'A lot of people will be opposed...' Duh, maybe let decisions be made at a local level. We know what is better for us than a bureaucrat in D.C. I believe he is missing a great opportunity to make government smaller (not surprisingly). If some district doesn't want constitutional carry in their school, well, that is their perogitive. I'm quite sure the stickers would be coming off the doors of my local school. An indictment of the federal department of education? Really? I'd call it more like common sense. Schools are picked on because they are gun free zones, nobody shoots back. Makes sense to me. If you have armed adults carrying weapons, they need to be qualified. Makes sense to me. I don't see where you are getting this as an indictment on education? Oh, that's right, you hate Trump.

Ban privately owned cars and pickups. They kill more people than any other man made tool ever invented. They are not even regulated. Anybody that wants one can walk onto a car lot with a couple thousand in cash and drive away in one. These things are causing global warming, lung cancer, and premarital sex. Why do we see the things everywhere???????????????????????????????????? Whats the attraction??????????????? I think people buy them because they have low self esteem. there is no reason to continue allowing them. 100 years ago a few people needed them for transportation. That is no longer the case. In the modern world we have buses trains and taxi's all operated by professional trained drivers. End the madness. Ban POV's You make some very valid points Dan. Heck...they're not even protected by the constitution. Think how much their use costs us in infrastructure. If not out right ban them, regulate and tax them to offset the true cost of their use.

Lets not start banging on premarital sex. Im offended by that. Walleyed posted the link to "Eve of Destruction" Written 50 years ago, that was about Americans being angry because the US military was overseas fighting the spread of Communism. Here we are 50 years later...we have invited them to come live among us and we're fighting the same battle on the homefront. And they seem to have the majority!

I don't have a problem with the proposal... As long as we raise the age to exercise all of our other constitutional rights too.
21 to vote!!! Wonder how that will go over?
Mike 21 to serve your country also? How would that go over? It will be a shame if they allow an 18yr old to go into combat and risk his life but tell him he can’t purchase a firearm. I really disagree with Trump on this one, he should not have budged on any gun policies. I don’t think it will help his case when it comes to re- election. OK stop and think about an 18 year old when the age to serve was adopted. DECADES ago. Now stop and look at our 18 year olds today as having the ability to buy a gun. NO BRAINER 21 should be the law to buy a gun. 18 years old when I was 18 , most were thinking about getting married , you respected your elders. You prayed in school., saluted the flag, opened doors for others, didn't act up in school because when you got home DAD was waiting. Now parents run to school to chew on the teacher. I could write a book. MOST (not all) teens now are idiots !!!!! period.

I don’t think schools are chosen because they are gun free. They often have police in them. I think they get chosen because the wackos want to kill people they don’t like for whatever crazy reason they rationalize. It just so happens that it’s an easy place to target. Even good parents need help raising kids these days. We need to invest much more into mental health services.

Being a "gun free zone" definitely does help make schools a Target.

[/quote] If there were no federal dept of ed, Trumcheeto wouldn't have any say about went on in local schools. Repeal any other federal meddling in ANY regard to education. The federal government is to be limited. Also, if you believe that some training program run by ANYONE having any endorsement from or relation to ANY government agency is pre-requisite to carrying a gun, you are part of the problem.

Based on what I hear you saying then is that nothing should be done. If you believe that, then you are part of the problem too. Or, are you saying you have a solution? It's easy to be an armchair quarterback and find fault without any workable solution.

Please explain why I get the feeling that there might be more behind these school shootings than we might know ?? I have seen a change in the way people have become so harden to their ideology, that as a people have we come to the point some will do anything to push an agenda ?? Is the anti gun base adding fuel to the fire, and in a subliminal way causing more harm by giving credibility to these monster that commit these acts, this all by the media pushing to report every little detail about these shootings ?? Is this just setting the stage of the next big act ?? I fear some within the anti gun movement understand this all to well, and beat the issue hoping to get the next big reaction, thus moving their agenda further down the road. I have to ask, are the anti gun groups killing people ???

Well, Hillary has people who disagrees with her "committing suicide".....why would she stop with that? Blatantly abandoning soldiers to be slaughtered.....why not children?

How do you deal with mental illness in a country where its normal for a man to change himself into a woman.? that's the dang truth or be gay. I truly believe acceptance it the real problem. Slowly over time we as people slowly accept what we truly know is wrong or not normal.
