I got my order in from The Snare Shop with Senneker springs and triggers. I can't seem to get the triggers to lock. The tip keeps popping off of the spring. I only saw one size of trigger in their catalog so I thought I ordered the right one. Are there different sizes? The springs I bought are the magnum stinger kill springs. There is a #2 stamped into the triggers. Is there a #3 available somewhere?
I saw some snares built with these springs without triggers. Are they still effective?

I have not had that problem with them, we set all the triggers before boiling, and even after tundra bumping to our line, 3/4 of them are still 'set'

Some of my questions were answered. It appears that I do indeed have the correct triggers. I have installed them correctly. They still won't hold. I can't even keep them from firing by holding finger pressure on them. Either my triggers have tips that are too short or there is something going on with the springs. I need to get more snares in the field so I am going to build some without the triggers for now. I hope to get this figured out as soon as I get back from the trapline.

my guess is you have something wrong in the way it is on your cable, meaning the kink in your cable or some other thing, can you take a picture of your setup for us and maybe we can help.

I have tried putting the trigger on the stop side also with no improvement. I also tried latching onto multiple different areas on the spring eye.

I use them all the time and have found its better to put the trigger against the stop and also eliminate the washers, it’s just something else shiny you dont need. But I would email Marty Senneker on his website he will help you.

Rough up the bearing surfaces with some emery cloth.

I have tried them both ways. Either way it won't hold. I will assemble them against the stop now though. The washers will go also. Thanks for the tips.

I was thinking of taking a file and squaring up the spring a bit. I will try the emery cloth first.

I will snap a picture of my set up tonight. Those look like regular snare shop springs, not the magnums Marty sells. Trigger should always be set to the side, facing the end stop.

I always set my springs on site. Washer is not really needed on the stop side with the magnums, but may be with the little springs as they might catch the ferule and not fire properly.

The package said Magnum Stinger Kill Springs Economy. Are these not the Senneker brand?

Spruce, your picture has me confused.

Likely not from Marty. His would have had the Canadian Coyote Company brand on the bag. I believe they only come in bags of 50.
I have never had an issue setting these springs. The smaller springs used to occasionally have issues, some would never stay set, and most would fire too early.
These springs need to stay set until they get significant force applied to them.

The coyote (or wolf) should have the snare pulled tight, and as soon as they start to fight the spring fires and tightens that extra inch or inch and half.
After that, lights out. The older springs still work, just not nearly as effective. I find my set up with 5/64", a superior toothed lock and the magnum spring as effective as a power ram. Once have I made catches, I recycle all of the old parts. I just refilled the locks (or tossed them if anything looks out of the ordinary). I found the old smaller springs would stay partially compressed, so I would toss them. That is not an issue with the magnum springs.

I believe you have the old triggers. The older triggers were very hard to stay set. Your triggers should have some writing on them if they are the new improved ones. Maybe I can get a picture later today of the old vs the new ones.
