One of the sets I've been using has been a single dam break set with a #4 double longspring. I'm assuming I should be trying for a rear foot catch. Correct? I managed to remove a toenail from one; but, that's been it. If a front foot catch is desired, should I use a "bump stick"? Also, if anyone knows, when a beaver makes his initial inspection of his dam, does he just swim up to it to detects leaks? Or, do they hear the water running and show up with a clump of mud ready for work. Just trying to understand their behavior; so, I can set traps, accordingly.

Thanks

Hi Aix,

No, I've not caught anything but a rear toenail from one. Still trying.

Back foot at dam break. Two breaks are better imho, cuz they cruise parallel with the dam. Snare between two works good on a drowner at this setup.
