It sounded correct. But I wanted to verify it.

Anyway it appears to be more or less true...

Another interesting fact in that link... the average salary of a U.S. teacher is better than most other nations in the survey. So it would appear we spend more money per student and pay teachers better than most countries...

So what's the deal?

Mike

The deal is as a society we no longer give those teachers much to work with.

As a society the teachers have not failed use any more than we have failed them.

If teachers feel they are shorted in academic teachings,..why no outcry? Individual outcry is a virtue!
We should embrace that!

Well Mike, one could argue that because most other developed countries have universal health care so they don't have to pay as much.

One could also argue their income tax burden negates any savings.

What is Denmark's income tax rate? Something around 60% isn't it?

One way or another, you pay the piper.

Crete NE spent 33 million on a new high school. Taxes on some of the best farm ground in the county is over $100/acre.
Note paragraph 3 where they asked the students what they wanted to see. Charging stations for cell phones is important for education.
Govt. is going to end up owning all the land when taxes get to be unaffordable.

So many of our kids have rotten parents, or no parenting at all. A baby-daddy ain't no father and a baby-momma ain't no mother.

As the late Andy Rooney said, "We have so many dumb kids in the country because we have so many dumb parents."
If a parent doesn't make their kid value the education they are offered, they and the kid are usually both little more than a liability to American culture.

Exactly.

We can throw all the money in the world at the problem. But if the kids don't value what is being offered it won't make a difference.

Most kids don't get it, a few do.
