Have done quite a little trapping but never gone after beavers due to the fact that I have never had a good spot . But the new ranch we are leasing a beaver problem . They have got a pretty
Big house and dam and a little creek about 10 feet across . Ice is pretty thin around it. I have some 330 and legholds and snares from other trapping ventures . Am going to set traps tomorrow so I am looking for advice on sets .

If you can still walk on the ice I would set the runs coming out of the house with the 330s.

What kind of footholds do you have?

You need some Beavah Lure too. See if you can find some pockets where you can set a 330 and put some lure on a stick ... 8 inches behind the trap.

Don't overlook one of the best sets for beavers in a small creek.... channel set. Walk upstream to the first place the creek has a natural funnel point. You'll be looking for a place where any beaver swimming upstream would be forced into a narrow channel, whether by the narrowness of the stream or maybe a small passage through or around a natural log jam. Drop a 330 in the groove, maybe place a dive log over the top (at water level). It doesn't matter how far upstream you have to go...I've caught beavers 1/4-mile upstream from their dam if that's where the first funnel point is. They'll really be traveling at this time of the year.
