I had to write a paper about why obtaining a liberal education is important. I am NOT liberal and do not see why this was relevant to my career. This was for an online college course for my second degree in nursing. I can only imagine what they teach in public schools now. I believe you may have confused modern political classifications with a traditional academic term. I could be dead wrong, and they did ask you about political aspects of education.

It goes a lot further than "anti-gun". A FACT that you won't readily find published is that the original organizer of the "walkout" is a woman named Tamika Malloy. Never heard of her ??????? She is a follower and acolyte of Louis Farrakhan....The leader of the Nation of Islam !

Id like to think that a number of those young folks would connect the dots of just what that means for them, in their values as US citizens if they continue to support this movement . Hopefully all, if not most would drop that like a hot horse shoe. Thank you for this insight, Sir Ken .

I've been giving some serious consideration to getting my degree and becoming a history/civics teacher.
A few of the posts on this thread are proof that I should give it deeper consideration.

Florida had an armed police officer. He decided to do nothing. The good guy with a gun did not stop the bad guy with a gun in that instance.
Maybe armed teachers could have been an answer or deterrent, but if we can't afford pencils and paper for classrooms how are we going to afford a concealed weapon and training for teachers? Of course, many will be against raising taxes for such reason.
Kids taking their safety into consideration is not liberal brainwashing. We are born with Constitutional rights, even if you don't agree with their use.
Frankly, the more school shooting that occur the more danger to our second amendment. You better act now or have less of a leg to stand on in the future. You can sit back and trade kids for your second amendment rights but eventually you will wish you acted sooner.
And of course throw out libtard, brainwash, agenda, indoctrination, and other buzzwords but the truth is there. Time to listen to kids and do something meaningful. No where am I saying to ban anything, but it's time to find a common sense solution from both sides. This is pure LIBERISH

Seeing the largest example of groupthink since 1930s Rise of hitler, young minds easily manipulated, Stalin's useful idiots so to speak.
Been seeing a lot of folks saying about if these kids would befriend some of these bulLied kids or kids that just seem to be outsiders things could be a ton better.
Course we talk about guns all the time but still no one speaks about psychotropic meds and their part in these shootings? God forbid democrats whiz off big pharma.

No where am I saying to ban anything, but it's time to find a common sense solution from both sides. It's been shown these were not "good guys with guns" but rather part of the anti-gun agenda. Probly escorted the "students" to D.C. to protest though. Pencils and paper? I supplied my own when I was a student. Listen to the kids? They eat tide pods and can't dress themselves. They're not adults. They focus on their cellphones and video games.. Not decision-makers to say the least. Let's let pre-schoolers make the rules.
