It is a shame that immature kids have become empowered by the actions of confused adults.

It is sad, I have seen this firsthand with my son and ex.

Sounds like wrong doing on the school to me.

Kid stayed in the class to do what he came to school for. TO be taught education. The teacher obviously came for other reasons as he or she should of been in the classroom to teach.

Putting the kids in study hall was just another example how bad our teachers are. They must of figured it was break time.

Anybody ever meet the kid the teacher taught common sense to?

It really was not a 'walkout'.....it was a planned event by the school administration.

Very sad.

I found myself in EXACTLY this same situation in 1969 in college.. It didn't end well for any of us involved.....on either side.

My dad had a 6th grade education. Still, he taught me to respect everyone. But he also taught me that teachers are not always right......and it is my duty to question everything they say.

If this was a walkout in support of the second amendment you all would be shouting democracy in action!

That quoted text isn't from Fox News or any site Lebowski or AC would consider "far right" either... It's straight from the ACLU website.

I hear ya... Or any pro-gun apparel, window decal, etc...

Perhaps some of these kids who were suspended should sue and the schools can have another education concerning the Tinker decision.

Where was the teacher that was being paid to teach his class that hour ?? I suspect we know the answer.

Actually it doesn't. Even the students that protested by walking out had to be in a certain area. Any deviation from that would've resulted in suspension as well.

When my school walked out to protest them taking drivers ed away, we had one of 3 areas to be in. The students that stayed inside had to be in a study hall. If your parent wanted to pick you up they could, they just had to go through the same procedures as if it were a normal school day.

Let's have protest kids! But only stay on the lawn and make sure you hold the signs so the cameras can read them.
Even too indoctrinated to protest correctly. Have to follow the rules, do this don't do that or you'll get suspended. Whoopity do.
In my day a rumor of a protest would've been perfect excuse to go smoke cigarettes and throw rocks at things. That was a big pastime where I grew up. See if you can hit that tree, mud puddle, etc etc.

This is exactly what many of these kids are doing with the walk out.

Teachers want it both ways.

They want the respect but yet they want everything their way.

I ask again has anyone ever met the kid the teacher taught common sense to?

When did the walkout"s in school become a thing? Back in my day if I would have walked out of school for anything I would have been paddled by the teacher/principle when I returned and my dad when I got home. College being the exception because the money for those classes came out of your on pocket.

Kids have a right to free speech. Walking out of school is exorcising that right. What I don't understand is why they are so determined to give up the right to be armed. The right to self defense and the right to have some protection against losing the right of consent where government is concerned.

Even school kids should be aware that laws don't protect them beyond allowing incarceration of people AFTER they break the law. The public is protected from those in prison but no one can be removed from society till AFTER they commit a crime.

This whole bully thing is a real problem. Kids are charged with a crime if they leave a bully with his head swollen. They are conditioned to go to authorities (school staff) if there is a problem. WE ARE TEACHING THEM TO BE SUBJECTS NOT FREE CITIZENS.

Those who would give up essential liberty, to purchase a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety. Benjamin Franklin (1706-1790)

We have raised a few generations of kids that have no respect for anything or anyone.
More parents teach hate for anyone not like them than teach respect for authority or for their fellow Americans.
I think it all started when parents decided that the possessions that could be bought if mother worked outside the home were more important than having her stay home to raise the kids. Now, most families have to have both parent working just to make ends meet. Or, baby-momma just goes on welfare and the rest of us pay.

Kids have no respect because they have never been taught respect. They won't learn it while they're staring at their phone and mommy is on hers.

probably asking why the poor lunch lady. I looked at my kids February lunch menu. Beef Nuggets. I asked her WTH beef nuggets are. she said they're like chicken nuggets but beef. I mean come on. not even trying anymore. That deserves a paddling. Lunch was my favorite subject in school and I can't abide anyone not taking it seriously. Another time I asked her what was for lunch and she said TACO IN A BAG, but they just put the chips and stuff right on the tray. I had to explain to her that THE BAG is an integral part of a TACO IN A BAG. Unacceptable.
