Our season opens here Sunday the 25th of March..... for archery. I plan on getting a blind out before then and putting a couple hours a day in for the next couple weekends. Sitting on a folding chair inside. I hunt with a cross bow. Not much of a shotgun hunter...although I have used one in the past. A couple times. Spring time turkey hunting is really cool if you love to call. But using a blind I have almost better luck just setting a hen decoy out and waiting. Calling very little. We can get 3 permits if we want. But one or two will do for me. Hopefully I will get to take my two small grand daughters along one day or two. Might not sit still and be quiet but that will be ok as long as we are having fun together.

My wife and I shoot our limit of 5 each every year in our yard, open the door and pull the trigger. We had 50 or60 in the yard last week, hate them, avian rats, but they are decent to eat.

No feeder just green grass. Farmers around here hate them. They can ruin a lot of hay real fast. We get a 4month any turkey season in the fall and 1 and 1/2 month bearded turkey only season in spring. They were introduced and very few people hunt them like most of you do. We shoot them when they become a pest.

I am ashamed to go this year. My wife bought me a real fancy box call made in France by Pete (swift4me on this forum) for Christmas. This thing has brought in turkeys from miles around and it is just sitting on the window sill overlooking our woods. It will be downright dangerous to go into the woods and actually use it.
Zim I like that that is the call I need. LOL Not sure I will go this year it would be the first time in many many year if i don't go. I see a lot of turkeys but no strutting that I have noticed we have a lot of white stuff left to melt.
Give me a fish, I will eat for a day. Teach me to fish, I will eat for a lifetime

Not much of a Turkey hunter but I may go this spring with the shotgun.
Love time in the woods but I am not into calling so its an ambush set up.

Trapping is easy you say? You try getting your target animal to step in a 3 inch area of its whole territory.
