If access to mental health care were free or reasonably affordable we might not be talking about 2nd amendment freedoms so much. People would be more likely to get help. Not all think they need it, but at least we might not trash talk so much about those who do need it.

Watched a documentary about the Missouri 51st the other night.

Yes, I thought it was very well presented, fair and balanced. I would encourage all to look it up.
Aires on either netflix or amazon, cant remember which.

I don't think we are trash talking those that need it,.( at least I'm not ). My thought is if you enter into an agreement with the government,.well, then you're governed by that entity.'
Most people perform their job to the best of their ability, they don't and shouldn't compromise that! If however government mandate precludes, (makes that impossible),and you are the employee of such, well then,.you have a tremendous task to ascertain. Is fairness subject to public opinion ?

Government , in general , isn’t prepared to touch this one . Way too many moving parts . Active and Reserve troops, law enforcement , etc., all can have a ptsd diagnosis .

I dont know what war you were in, there were so many guys that came back from Vietnam that had it and were diagnosed with shell shock. And them guys went thru life and just lived with it. It would be hard for anyone to say your gun right should be taken away or limited.

PTSD can come from many different types of trauma or more than one when in the military.........not only when in combat or on the front line. Civilian life has many traumatic events as you all likely have seen or experienced yourselves. which of course can also cause PTSD. Taking your 2nd away because you experienced these things is flat out wrong. Therapy and meds can and do help many people with PTSD.........myself included. Serving your country should not equate to giving up your rights because you were injured during that service. Helping us find a way to cope, live and survive on a day to day basis afterwards is what we need..........not taking an important part of our rights and heritage away. I find it interesting that many protesters today are young and many others have not served. I believe they are either naïve, ignorant or misinformed on this issue........maybe all three.

Charles2 nailed it. I think this is more about a mental health debate than 2nd amendment.

Who wouldn't be diagnosed with PTSD if they checked?

Last time I saw a chart for PTSD, I went down the list and said ...Yep, yep, yep, yep, yep, yep...got all those. Its called life.

Calvin, not everyone that experiences traumatic events in life reacts the same way. Yes ,it is called life.....but being shot, beat up, robbed or sexually assaulted etc is part of some peoples lives and some of these people are children. They may not handle it as well as someone else. These events can have life lasting effects and it does not mean that they are soft or weak people.......just damaged or wounded emotionally. Just saying.

How many mass shootings have been done by those with PTSD? There may have been some, but I don't recall any.

Aaron, you might be right...for now.

But don't you believe that "they" haven't thought/dreamt about it. think about it...why did the Obama admin push PTSD Disability so hard?

how better to disarm the very Patriots who might take exception to a government run amok...

Well I'd like to think that most folks really want to under stand and help people with PTSD. That said I recall the current POTUS so many are hailing loves vets, as saying. "Those soldiers claiming PTSD maybe they're just weak minded should have never been soldiers?" That might not be to the exact words but close?
I don't think people in general or politicians think far enough a head to conspire to register people with PTSD diagnosis for a gun grab. If they do I'll be screwed along with a bunch other folks I know. I don't think they can kill us all..

I Totally agree Charles.

Far reaching sides of the spectrum on both ends.

My point was in relationship to guns (and how they may try and exempt some from owning them with it down the road). As they can (and do) diagnose about anyone with PTSD these days. I don't negate the ones who are truly having issues with it. I've seen this as well.

Yes, Mac...I do believe there are some politicians who will be trying to use any form of diagnoses as a roadblock to owning guns in the future.

As Paul said, I also don't know of any person with PTSD involved with a mass shooting............. but I agree that it is possible if not probable that a PTSD diagnosis may be used as a front for gun seizure and control. It is no secret that many people with PTSD take their own lives to escape but I am fairly certain that a firearm with 30 rounds is irrelevant..........it will be just the excuse they will use to take them from us. Are they going to take away our knives, rope, cars, alcohol or illegal drugs? All of these are also used by tormented souls as well as many others no doubt. This issue is huge with many rabbit trails to confuse people and my father always said that common sense is not very common. God Help us.
