Two different critters there...skunks can be targeted very effectively with 120 & 155 size bodygrippers.
Coon can vary in size but you'd be safe with 160 and 220 size bodygrippers. For both skunk coon and possums around here I use 160 and 220 very effectively.

160/220 are very effective.
Check and see what the biggest bodygrip trap you can use on land is in your state.

But all that has already been said. smile

220's will get fewer refusals than 160's or smaller. Belisle 220's are terrific traps. If you don't want to spend the money they cost, buy Dukes they are as good as any other brand besides Belisles in 220 size.

Two animals that can come in very different sizes! A 160 can grab a big coon right behind the ears, and it might suitcase a medium skunk.

Money cannot buy you happiness, but it can buy you a trapping license and that's pretty close.

wouldn't go bigger than a 220. I use 220's but don't set till late where most are denned up except the big boars might be still out and about.

220s probably get fewer refusals, but I get better strikes with 160s.

I’m still setting pinch points and trying to blend them, no matter what trap I’m using. Bodygrips in senesced grass trails means easy pickings

Yes for the essence and to keep them from killing chickens. I can sell the essence for $30 for 2 oz or $275 for a pint.

Is it discharged all over the set? What would you put the ratio of skunks that sprayed vs skunks that left you with no scent + 2 full glands of untapped essence? 7 sprays to 3 non-sprays? More? Less? Not trying to be argumentative I'm just curious.

I never kept exact track but I'd guess 8 of 10 do not spray. Also with the triggers adjusted correctly they aren't all suitcased. I don't target skunks, just hard to avoid them in trail sets and bucket sets.

And If you run your trigger wires off to one side you might miss a few skunks but then you going to have a bunch of hip caught coon when using 220s.

I have killed a lot of skunks with a BMI 110 mag. Set to catch them behind the head coming back into the hole, they rarely move the trap out of place....DRT.

We don't have a real large skunk here but the very best trap to put their lights out right there is the sauvageau c-120 mag with the pitchfork trigger and the kill bars.

Forget that fear of gravity-get a little savagery in your life.
