I don't own one but I mounted a scope and zeroed it for a guy. Pretty impressed with it. I can see myself having one some day.

I was going to buy one until I had the Savage bmag in my hands. I found the action very sloppy, felt cheap, I passed.
Seems a great fur taking caliber, I will own one, just waiting for more manufacturers to choose from.
Disclaimer I own several savages and I've gifted 4 to my sons. Very good guns just not this model. I think there is already a recall on them?

no specific purpose other than I'd just like to have one.. lol.. I was thinking about the savage B mag but haven't had one in my hands. Don't sound like they are what I'd want anyway

I was just going to go look at the Savage B-Series (not the B mag) in 22 wmr. They also have it in 17 hmr (B17 F Sporter). They look pretty good. Unfortunately I just missed them on sale. mad

Caliber is cool, Savage Bmag leaves alot to be desired. I wanted a long range target/varmint gun for around the farm, the Bmag is not accurate enough to routinely take out a crow at 200 yards.

I have one in a Ruger 77/17 and really like it. The Ruger is expensive, but it is very accurate and a blast to shoot. I have shot a few coyotes with it, but I don't consider it to be a coyote gun. I have had coyotes run off after good hits, not to say that you can't kill a coyote with it but there are better options,

I have hesitated on this one as well....the round and concept sound very nice. The reports still make me hesitant.

The ruger would be a nice rifle. Not hearing good reviews on the Savage Bmag. Not dead set on getting one. Just thought it'd be another interesting gun in the safe that doesn't get shot as much as it could/should. lol

I bought a .17 HMR back in 2007 and kept it for several years, one day I decided that I wanted to get rid of it. Worst mistake I have ever made, the .17 HMR was one of the most fun guns I have ever had. So when a dear friend of mine came and asked me about the .17 WSM I emphatically encouraged him to buy one. After he got one we went out and wasted some ammo together, The WSM performed fantastic. However, I didn't see enough of a difference in it compared to the HMR to convince me to buy one over the other. When I decided that I couldn't live with out a .17 any more I went with the HMR again.

It's a trappers life for me

I have had my .17wsm savage for about 5 years and absolutely love it. It is always with me when I am trapping. It is a tack driving machine and my son and I have killed hundreds of gophers with it. This past trapping season I shot my first coyote with it at 200 yards and he ran about 100 yards and fell over dead with a nickel sized exit hole.

The stock seems a little cheap but for $300 I am really happy with the Savage bmag.17wsm. I have also shot lots of treed coon with it and it really works well on the coon.

The wsm is a rim fire and I believe the hmr is a center fire. I could be wrong. The wsm 20 grain is 3200 fps
