I should try it sometime, I have a 8 second pop up blind from ameristep Yes that doesn't stop them. If you haven't hunted them before you would enjoy doing so. If you know where they are strutting around or coming to a field to feed or know there pattern of travel you would have great success. I also use a blind most of the time because I bow hunt them and it makes if so much easier. God luck and hope to see a bird.

My old Bourbon Red Gobbler thinks he is 10 ft. tall & bulletproof this time of the year. He hasn't tried me yet but he wants to REAL BAD. Time to unlimber the old stock whip & teach him who owns who again this year. The old guy gets to forgetting things like this every year about this time.

I can't imagine chasing turkeys in the snow. It was 35 degrees here opening morning and listening to everyone talk there was zero chance that the turkeys would be gobbling and strutting lol.

It was 20 degrees or so here Saturday. The Turkeys Gobbled pretty good. Took my boy youth season. Called a Few Jakes to the blind and they skirted it , didnt like my decoys to much. Sunday morning it was about 25 degrees and they Gobbled hard most the morning. toms came to about 40 yards, a little out of his shotgun range so we held off.

It opens this next weekend here. I went out to take a look this evening where I hunt them. They were strutting and dancing tonight with snow on the ground and about 32 degrees. I'm not sure I will hunt them this year or not. If I do it might be a day or so and that would be it. The fishing is great at the same time and there is beaver to catch. I enjoy other outdoor activities also and they are all at the same time. LOL

So do turkeys strut in 4-8" of new snow? I think it's almost turkey season here Yes they do ! Today as I was driving , the turkeys have been out for several weeks now in groups, often right by the side of the roads. I saw several groups just today , slowing to admire them . Once coming to full stop to let some cross the road. There was a magnificent Tom with his beard dragging in the snow was inches off the pavement waiting for the others to follow. As I slowed down, I tapped my horn lightly to help the others make up their minds before other traffic came along. Every time I tapped the horn, he would gobble back ! LOL Another one down the road was fanned out beautifully. His deep colours contrasting in rich tones against the white snow. Gorgeous . Turkeys are all over here- I love it . Yes they don't mind snow- doesn't stop them at all.
