Not that it really matters, but I don't think the opening coyote seen was with a lever action. I'd have to look again, but I thought he was working a bolt and the gun was white.

Agreed.

Been a minute since I watched the movie, but I'm pretty sure he used a bolt.

Mike

Perhaps I just assumed he used the same gun he had for the rest of movie.a bolt would make much more sensem Hey, an excuse to watch it again!

The well workers I believe were actually security guards for a well drilling operation. Would make sense as they were heavily armed and most prior military!

Yep, but they didn’t fare so well against the wildlife officer with a HP rifle! Lol

I tried looking all I could confirm is he found the girl and helped fbi lady.
I don't remember hearing anything on the news about reservation cops getting killed in a shoot out
Rancher I trapped for said oil workers were not supposed to have guns, but these guys were security, seems they wouldn't need 5-6 guys to watch a drilling site

I don't know if the movie is based on one actual event or is just a representation of common occurrences on reservations.

A family member of mine got involved with a Shoshone gal and moved out to the WR reservation. This family member wasn't a model citizen and had spent time in prison and had seen some of the rougher side of life... I don't think he made it a month on the rez before he moved back to town.

It's not a nice place.

I see alot of crime and desperation everywhere I go or have lived. But i do not live on reservations so cannot speak on them. Lots of great advertisement for automakers, and outdoor power machines and cutesy outdoor accessories. I enjoyed the movie. Realism? Not much. Mostly typical Hollywood stuff. Men thrown across a trailer house from bullet impact. Others just like that. Pretty silly but entertaining. Never missed a shot from long range. Pretty silly. Oil field worker just happened to have a machine gun in his trailer. Kind of a stretch. Security must have wanted them to be ready for a buffalo stampede. Men living alone without women resorting to rape as they have no self control and buddies that allow and cover it up. Would you??? Yet for way over 40 years of Hollywood I have seen this be a major theme as well as books. Following three mountain lions to a shallow den and then mentioning they are done. Like to see that shooter an hour later. The tracker must be the highest paid one on earth. Must have the best banker on earth as well. The FBI lady is as green as grass but a true wonderment at firefights. The Native American actors are pretty good. The one fellow is getting alot of miles on him. But I enjoy him. Alot of tiresome old old old themes. But a good movie. Could have been alot better. Would be nice to see some writers really try instead of just putting out the same old sad song much like listening to a auctioneer for to many hours straight. The oil companies are made out to be as evil as ever, another tiresome theme. Wonder what the director drives. Probly walks everywhere he goes. Barefoot. No heat or electric for him I spose. I can think of at least 10 other movies that have that are much like this one. Time to either get some real writers, stop making movies until a couple generations die off so the younger ones can believe that the stuff they watch is new, or for us older folks to just watch Gunsmoke.

I liked the movie very much. Reminded me of a C.J. Box novel.

The end ruined it for me. I have no idea how he got the bad guy to the top of that mountain. Second; if it was soooo cold your lungs explode in 100 yards they sure would have had some cold weather gear on. Never ever heard of lungs exploding? Frostbit airway possible? Hollywood does not know how to portray cold. IMO

No, cold is still a boogeyman to be exploited. The frozen lung myth has been disproven over and over. Even with sustained maximum breathing rate in forty below the air that actually reaches your lungs is still at body temp. Reality just isn't always interesting or makes for a good story. We know that already though

Lungs can explode due to extreme aerobic exercise in extreme cold.

Just like you can see a spider walking on ice.

It was a very good movie.......

I enjoyed the movie, I lived just a few miles outside of the Wind River Reservation for several years. I have never seen any security people around any oil or gas wells other than maybe some one camped there while they were drilling, and the USFW has no authority on the Res
