We are planning a trip to Casper Wy this weekend and was wondering if it would be worth going through Chadron Ne to see the trappers museum. Anyone ever been there?

Haven't been there, but everyone I talked to that has, said it was great. Lot of history on display there.

I went to the Jim Bridger museum in Pinedale Wyoming and was highly disappointed as everything there was a reproduction, including traps, and the Jim Bridger rifle, was "like" the rifle Jim Bridger had. I drove past the one at Chadron 22 times last summer and never stopped yet.

Definitely worth the visit. I was there about 12 years ago and it was very interesting. They have done several upgrades and renovations since then.

You will be glad you stopped.

Drove right by it on a turkey hunting trip with my boys and did not stop. Did not have time but I wish I had taken a few minutes at least. If I get close again, I am stopping to check it out.

Totally worth it.

Period correct firearms, keel boats, traps, blankets etc.

If you’re that close you definitely need to stop.

Have you ever been to Tom Parr's museum in Ohio, and, if so, what'd you think?

He has quite a collection!

I guess I am the only person disappointed in it then.

I was hoping to see a bunch of old antique traps. Maybe even some hand forged traps. Honestly I would wager a bet that they have less than a dozen traps on display and most of them are not that old.

The interesting or best part of the museum is all of the trade guns. Wow, they have quite a collection and good descriptions.

I would think it would be difficult for a family to spend much more than a hour there. Fort Robinson down the road to the west has a lot more to see and do. A family could spend a day or two there depending on what is going on.

I just checked out the museum in Ohio's website. Looks like they have TOO MANY traps. Still probably worth a stop on my way back from GA later this month. The fur trade room looks the most like a museum but the rest of the rooms look like an very organized trap shed.

This is really cool though!

Go to Tom Parrs museum. Hundreds of old traps there. That gigantic long spring trap lives on Mr tom’s property. That’s mr Tom in the picture. Awesome place and man
