I was treated to a First-of -Lifer Blue-headed Vireo in my yard Tuesday evening. One showed up on a branch above my stock tank very briefly at 5:22PM before flying off.

Tuesday's surprises in the heavy WSW wind gusts included a solitary Palm Warbler on a pit stop feeding/drinking at the stock tank - another bonus First-of-Lifer! Then yesterday a pair of Ovenbirds showed up for the day. The last time I saw and was able to photograph this species was also in my yard 20 May 2012.

I heard and saw a first arrival Baltimore Oriole high in my maple tree early this afternoon.

Happy Birding,

Jonathan

Jonathan...what lovely captures of your firsts ! The lighting red on the Palms is gorgeous ! And the Vireos....among the most difficult to see , hear, and capture in the lens.

Just look at the ambient lighting in those....youve done it once again.

Perfection in the micro birdies to the T !

Tis a mighty thing.....

Thank you for the share of your wonderful adventures .

See you on the surface .... cool

Nice pics!
I just got back from an offshore sail, and 59 miles off Savannah, GA, this guy came to visit. Exhausted to the point of being tame.

Any idea on the species?

My oriole feeders have been out for a week in anticipation. Three male Baltimore Oriole scouts showed up at the jelly feeder just before noon! Each waited in line for their turn - the Alpha bird behavior.

Pcr2, It only took a day to make it north from the Southern Tier. Let me know when the Orchard Orioles show down by you.

Beautiful pictures all. The wave of bug eaters is heading north. Tim H., your open ocean visitor appears to me to be an American redstart, (based solely on my various guides, not on personal experience). You were the perfect stroke of luck for that little girl. Makes me wonder how many don't make it on their perilous journey north.

Had a hummer this morning while drinking my coffee and decided to try putting grape jelly out for the Orioles. Never tried before, so put some in a dish on another feeder, came in to wash the spoon and an orchard oriole was already on the dish. Couldn't believe it.
