It has been too lobg since ive been on this site, and even longer since ive posted.(2015)

I used to be an IT guy who dabblled in trapping. Took the class, passed the test, got my license and off i went...kind of.

I was in the middle of college, working 40+ hr weeks, and part time 10+. So my time was limited to 2 weeks in december, but even that was restricted.

2016 was a bad year. Drinking, anger, rage, attempted suicide. Went to tomah VA for ptsd treatment. Kept me from pulling trigger, but left me without a manly purpose.

For 2016 and 17 years, i didnt trap at all. No desire. And no place to go.

Now, i live in the country, lots of fields, farms, wildlife.

I feel revitolized to get trapping again. Started listening to trapping radio, and tomorrow im going to the library go learn more.

I'm sorry to hear of your struggles. It's good to hear you're about to become a trapper again. There's nothing more therapeutic than being in the outdoors pursuing your passion.

It's great to have you back with us. If there's anything we can do to help, just speak up.

Welcome back man. Days out in the woods, fields, streams, it's amazing. My Mama who recently passed used to say to me when I'd start to get riled lol, "son, whens the last time you let the sun hit your back by the creek". She knew it was a healer. So get out there and soak it in!

I wonder if tap dancers walk into a room, look at the floor, and think, I'd tap that. I wonder about things.....

You could head over to Reedsburg a week from Saturday. It's about a 160 mile trip, but I'll bet you'll meet some great Wisconsin trappers. I know some of them and will vouch for them being folks you'd want to meet. Here's a link to the post about it... https://trapperman.com/forum/ubbthreads....SBU#Post6244730

Don't know nothing about ptsd. I only served 3 years, no combat. Grandfather in WW2, Father & 2 uncles in Korea, to many older cousins & family freinds to count for Vietnam, brother put in 31 yrs from Grenada to the second Gulf war. But like I said I've never been there done that so I have no honest opinion on ptsd but what I can tell ya is that I'll take you to northern Wv and western Pa for a little predator trapping & a whole lot of coon trapping if ya want. Free ride, no expenses to you for two weeks of running your butt off. Can't see to can't see. Don't blow your head off till you've experienced the option of working your butt off for fun & furtune(I'm sure con prices are going up this year). (This word is unacceptable on Trapperman), it's just fun, come run with me.

Not as bad as I could be, not as good as I should be.

You betcha, head on over to Reedsburg for the D-9 rondy, you'll meet some fine people there.

End of June the WTA is hosting the 50th annual Fur Takers rondy in Marshfield.

http://www.furtakersofamerica.com/convention.html

And mark your calendar for the Friday/Saturday after Labor Day weekend for the state rondy also in Marshfield.

http://www.wistrap.org/convention.html

After these three you'll feel like gettin' out there this coming season for sure.

Sometimes in life we all have to take a different path which doesn't allow us to do what we like to do. That is why this site is so great. You can stay in touch with trapping even though you may not be able too through those years.

Welcome back and it's great that your doing better. In my opinion it's very important to have things that your interested in to keep your mind occupied. Rather it's trapping , hunting, golf etc. Good luck in your trapping endeavor.

It is what it is.
