In North Dakota I need to run a BAD, is it ok to run 285# BAD on a #1 ram... I can't find factory snares with them I have 1/16 1x19 cable on hand just curious if the BAD is ok on a RAM

They'd work just fine.

Here's an example of what we use in Saskatchewan

Would a kill pole be just as effective over that of a ram device? You would have a staking devise and a kill pole all In one stake.

If I'm following this your talking about that ram thing that looks like a over sized body grip spring.

Ram puts them down 99% of the time under 60 seconds if used properly. Always an exception to the rule but they are flat out the best snare system out there. You can reset in the same spot most of the time because there is rarely a struggle and any noticeable damage to your set location. Most end up off the trail.

But In open prairie situations like In ND your going to have to drive a stake to attach It to. Well there are shelter belts with trees but that would be limiting your locations.

You can put a ram foot on them in the open. They work just as well. Rebar stake to hold it and you have a dead coyote off the trail. Put many on my truck tracks through the snow and have had a lot of coyotes walk right in.

I have used them and they work. But I'm cheap and I don't want to pay $20.00 for the ram thing. When I can drive In a kill pole and get pretty much the same results.

Well we have no choice, no free hangers allowed except with special permit. Never used a snare pole but have seen lots of pictures of results. Let's just say with a ram I like picking up clean coyotes 99% of the time.

I'm running them on fence crossing to keep the crossing fresh and prevent the fence damage I've had with other snares, one thing about the Rams is people WILL pick them up no left $2 snares laying around the pasture...

I have used them since they first came out in '99-2000. Snared for 25 years before that. No comparison here for me as even with a kill pole there is a lot of chewing, waterheads and an escape with the smaller diameter cable in regular snares. Poor trigger design so I had to come up with (design) one that is more sensitive, enough that it takes non-targets like rooster pheasants and cottontails (if they get their heads/bodies high enough). Game cams show dispatch on 'yotes in 2 minutes or less. But there is no time to let an accidental dog catch free like a regular snare so ONLY in Lethal situations should it be used!!!!!!!!

If I'm correct snaring season doesn't start In ND until duck and upland bird seasons are closed. So that should Eliminate most Incidental catches.
But If you catch and kill the wrongs guys dog things could get pretty nasty.
That's how we lost the use of the unprotected 220.

It was pushed into law in Canada by anti trapping activists and its considered the most humane snare, I understand some people don't like them, that's not my fault... As far as tresspassing on posted land in ND, Id rather not get into that, your reading about public land laws...

60 seconds ? How do they know this ?
Who among you has ever filmed enough actual catches with a hidden camera to say it kills a coyote in 60 seconds ?

I'm willing to bet you wouldn't kill many big eastern coyotes with their size, strength and heavy coats in 60 seconds on avarge.
In fact, I got money that says it won't !

I got money that says a ram will kill your eastern coyote faster than any snare your running. Lol

I don't know but I killed a 150 doe In a cable restraint In a non entanglement situation. It was set up with a 280Lb BAD. There was snow on the ground and no catch circle. That deer died pretty quick.

I could fill this page with pics of dead coyote in Rams that didn't even leave a scratch Mark in the dirt.
