I have family and friends in the business. Extras get paid $86 per day. 1 small scene takes roughly 13 hrs to shoot. The extra might only play the 1 scene per movie or episode.

Some extras aren't paid at all. Can't talk to cast unless they initiate the conversation. But good food and drinks are provided. We (wife daughter and myself) didn't get paid for our commercial or billboards we were on, but did it with pleasure because we got to tell our daughter's story
