I’m planning on taking Jonesie’s trapping school next spring. Atlantic City is close to where it’s going to be held. I could fly there but the only carrier going there is Spirit airlines and their reputation is terrible. I could drive but it’s over 1500 miles one way. This leaves me with flying into Philadelphia, renting a car, and driving to the school site. The problem is, I really hate driving in or around big cities!!! If somebody else was going and we could meet at the Philly airport, I’d pay for the rental car just to get out of doing the driving.
Is anyone on this forum going to the school, who would be willing to share a ride from the airport? PM me.

Where in NJ will the school be held. Who can I contact for more info on the school? This year's school is at Newt Sterling's place in Port Republic in Jan. Newt has details. I will post them on this thread when I can.

I was contacted by a Tman member and will be working out details between now and January. Jonesie and I have been in contact over the last year and he sounds like my kind of trapper, writer and instructor. It will be my pleasure to see his instructors in action.

Glad you found someone. I want to attend this school eventually but I already have instruction booked elsewhere this season. Mark June's Predator Academy is on my short list as well.

Shane,
Ron is a heck of a ball of energy and knowledge. He attended our Academy and we found him to be inquisitive as the day is long... usually the mark of a man who takes his work seriously.

I just got back from the VA. convention, and saw this. Good show and met a lot of good folks, despite the rain. Shane If you can get to Marks Academy get there. The Coyote and bobcat trapping instructions are great and intense. I was trying to get back there this coming March in Ks but my schedule will not allow it, maybe next year, but I will be back there. and just for the record Mark and Rusty throw so much information at us I had to ask a lot of questions to keep everything in my head, I couldn't write that fast LOL Great time.
Teach, Newts place is about an hour south east of Philly air port. Straight run. It is an easy drive once you get into NJ and not that bad getting across the river from the airport. maybe 20 mins. Despite all the thoughts of concrete and cities, Southern NJ is farms, thick woods/forest and vast tide meadows. So the only thing you have to worry about is the Jersey devil and big foot if driving in the dark. Newt's place is in the pine barrens along the south east coastal tide meadows. The tides will swing 3 to 4 feet in 6 hours where my tides on the south west side (Delaware river and bay) will swing 6 to 8 feet in 6 hours.
The school was Newts idea, and we talked about it for a few years before doing it. We asked Morgan to join us for the 2nd school to complete the Goal that we wanted the school to be. An all around snaring and trapping school. Tide water, beaver and cable is what most folks come for. But also coon seems hot this year. Yes we use cable restraints but the only difference between hanging a CR and a snare is swivel, deer stop and maybe a break away in some states. NJ Cr's do not require a Breakaway. we instruct on how to use both snares and CR's.

I’ll need the bigger suit case if I’m bringing hip boots. How’s the weather there in January?
