Knowing several members maintain Bluebird nest boxes, I wanted to share these photos taken late yesterday afternoon at a nearby woods while I was camera hunting for Yellow Warblers. It was warm and buggy, and they were in a feeding frenzy. I saw 7 different birds and was able to capture these portraits of three individuals.

Great pictures, thanks for posting Jonathan.

I got myself a seniors' GPS.
Not only does it tell me how to get to my destination,
it tells me why I wanted to go there.

Jonathan You have your cameras working over time this week .Birds , moths ,and the moon all in 2 days. All your pictures are must see . One of my favorite birds is the Blue bird .I have been maintaining Blue bird boxes for more than 30 years . I have had a nesting pairs in at least one box each of those years. I still get a thrill see then using a box I built and put out for them. And many of those years I have had nesting pairs of Tree Swallows ,Wrens and other birds along with the Blue birds . I wish now I would have kept a log of all the fledglings that left a nest box that I put out . Thanks for all the great pictures .

Thank you for all your wonderful pictures, Jonathan. I have a standing offer among friends and coworkers: a steak dinner for whomever puts me on a Mountain Bluebird.

Good pictures as always Jonathon.
Had a pair fledged 4 this year and as of right now she is sitting on her second brood of five.
Gave a buddy two boxes this year and he has had some good luck for putting them up a little later than normal.
He said he's got them spoiled. Every time he comes out of his house he shakes a bag of dried meal worms and the male fly's in and watches him put a few on top of the birdhouse. When he leaves the male bluebird fly's in and gobbles them up.

Lovely captures of the Blue Crew, as usual, Jonathan grin

If only you had access to the Mountain Blues too that are out here....that neon glacier blue is striking that has me transfixed every time I see one.

That glacier blue is my all time favourite colour in the blue tones .....bedsides turquoise .

Thank you for the share, and stay cool .

See you on the surface ....

Great photos! Looks like a male, a female, and a juvenile.

I have about 50 bluebird boxes and almost all are occupied. Mostly bluebirds, but some tree swallows and some sparrows.

Occasionally we see a few migrating Indigo Buntings but they do not nest here.

It helps with occupancy to clean out the boxes each winter. Sometimes I find flying squirrels using the boxes in the winter, so I just leave those alone.

Great pictures! My bluebirds at the house did not fare well this year. Normally they have three hatches. This year had none. A pair built nests and after three weeks I checked the eggs and they had no embryos. Cleaned out the box and they rebuilt and laid eggs and they never hatched either. I guess the male was infertile. Had a good year at the hunting propery with multiple nests on several boxes.
