So I got this new little Mt cur pup who is 9 weeks old. It's been a long time since I had a dog so I don't have a clue what would be best to treat them with. What are you all using for your dogs? Thank you!

I wonder if tap dancers walk into a room, look at the floor, and think, I'd tap that. I wonder about things.....

Last time I was at the Vet she said a lot of people are killing their dogs by overdoing it with all the options expecting instant results.

Was born in a Big City Will die in the Country OK with that!

Vectra is what we have been using recommended by our vet , front line before that , the vet changed recommendation so we went with it 85 pound GSD she is outside alot

the small dog wears a Seresto collar but she is outside a lot less and is under 10 pounds.

for the puppy I would do Soresto collar and ask vet when it is right to go vectra

I use frontline on my lab. I tried a cheaper brand that I dont remember the name off the top of my head, but I constantly found ticks on him. Went back to frontline and the problem went away.

Vectra here in Eastern Montana keeps the fleas, ticks and biting flies away from our Plott Hound / Border Collie mix. Been using it for three years now.

Something that's fast acting that really works well is Adams Flea & Tick spray.

Must be nice to eat ice cream as fast as you want and not have to worry about brain freeze.

Seresto collars worked the best in the past 40 yrs of bird dogs!!! They don't live long enough as it is, why poision him all his life? They have to bite the dog for the oral stuff to work, with the collars there dead b4 they bite. Food 4 thought. Collars work for 8 months. Good deals online usually.

Hmm. I put a seresto collar on my pup about a week ago. He still has fleas. Not nearly as many fleas as he did have, but he still has some.

That's been my experience with Seresto collars as well. I bought one after recommendations on here, worked about a month and the fleas were back. I bought another one and had the same results. To be fair, my dog swims a lot. But Bayer (maker of the collar) claims eight months effectiveness for non-swimmers and five months if the dog swims. I didn't get anywhere near that.

I had poor results with Advantix, also made by Bayer and Frontline. Nothing seems to keep the fleas off my dog!

I finally started treating him with Sevin dust and it works but I don't like using it. He has an appointment at the vet to get some Nexgard. I don't know what else to do.

Eh...wot?

I highly recommend Sentry. Been using it for 3 or 4 years now and not one on either dog or more importantly ME.

X2. Just ordered 2 more off amazon for $108. Pricey, but they work good. Put them on all 3 of our dogs last fall. This winter our blue heeler chewed one off my feist. This feist has fleas now but the other feist and heeler don't.

My vet has a pill that works, but it's spendy. Like 30 bucks a month. I don't know what it's called though, I've always just asked for one of those flea pills, lol. It's a tannish pink color chewable tablet about the size of a quarter, but thicker. And there won't be a flea one... but with 5 dogs, 150 a month just for fleas (it doesn't work on ticks) is pretty insane.
