I am looking for info on a good moose hunt in Quebec. We wanted to be able to drive to the outfitter and possibly take the wife and kids and do fishing also. Any suggestions?

I am no expert but I believe you need to look at Newfoundland rather than Quebec. The game there "belongs" to the outfitters and you don't have to draw a tag, just book a hunt. Google Newfoundland moose hunting. Still driving distance from Pa too, but might require a ferry ride. Just more adventure!

Newfoundland is polluted with moose.

Forget that fear of gravity-get a little savagery in your life.

The Newfies shoot the pee outa moose. Most of the moose I mounted were shot there. Lots of moose, not a lot of big moose as far as antlers are concerned. Myself, I'd be ecstatic over any palmated antlered bull, so if I ever get a chance to go there I will.

Any recommendations on a guide service that you have used?

Ocean Side Country Lodge. Hazen and Diane will take care of you. I didn't get a moose but it turned hot and my southern friend wanted to go the first week to avoid nice temps. That said his son and him both missed bulls the last morning after a frost. Would go back in a heart beat. I would drive next time as Toronto airport stinks.

Father in law and I went to Newfoundland. Used owl's nest. We both tagged out on nice palmated moose and very respectful woodland caribou. Nothing was bad about the trip. We hunted rainy lake. That was awhile ago, so not sure they're still in business. Owner seemed to be a drinker. But again, every aspect of trip was a success.
