New to trapping, but have been reading on here for a long time. Figured this is the best place to go for advice. We have tenants that live on a rental house on our farm who have coyotes that have been coming in really close to the house, eating the chickens, etc. They want to get rid of them, but aren't sure about putting foothold traps out because of their dog who often times is loose and allowed to roam around the home. I've told them that the offset jaws won't hurt the dogs paw (I should know as I caught my wife's dog in one last winter...thought I was going to be sleeping outside for a while), but they are still a bit wary of that so I looked up foot snares. Do any of you guys use them? How is their effectiveness compared to a standard coil spring? From what I read, they aren't supposed to cause any damage at all to the paw. Is this an accurate statement? Thanks for the information guys. Much appreciated.

I think you'd like the Belisle foot snare. Fremont makes 1 too. They've been legal in Wi for about 4 years. They aren't popular. I think the price scares a lot of people.

Oregon has a bunch of crazy trapping reg;'s and you need to check them out first.

Nothing against foot snares in the Oregon regulations from what I've seen. Not planning on buying a ton, probably just 1 or 2 so we can trap more "safely" close to the homes.

I would go with the Belisle foot snare 6".
Also recomend the Stainless Steel one.Its much faster.
