Does anyone have the demensions for beaver floats? Will be using 330s.

I have seen so many sizes and styles that I can offer a set dimension for you. I think it depends mostly on what materials you plan to use and at what level you want your 330 to float at. I have seen "V" shaped open square shape and even "U" shaped and the all performed. About the only common dimension was an open end just wider than outside of spring eye to eye and about a 3/4 slot to slide set springs into to hold BG(springs can be twisted up/down for tight fit like in cubby box slots or shimed). I have also seen other ways to secure trap in opening, bent nails, clips. Best to find something to copy for a start and see if it works for you. There have been some very informative posts on them in past but I'm lousy at searching archives.

I've learned enough thru the years to now know that I don't know enough. KNOWLEDGE IS FREEDOM.

I googled it and found many picture of beaver flat sets. My question is what's the best bait ? I saw everything from apples to shaved green sticks. Are lures used ? -Thanks

A shaved popular stick is the most common bait that I am aware of and the lure used is most often beaver castor.

The only constant in trapping is change so keep learning.

That’s exactly what I was after. Couple questions. What size wood did you use and what’s the length? What is the black material on the bottom of the float?

Orrr, put a pile of mud on that shelf and make a castor mound set,,,,or put sac oil on it.
Probably the MOST unnatural thing, a floating mound, BUT man, I sure wore them out on a couple jobs.

Three foot long 2x4s with an inside measurement of 19 1/2 at the widest part. On the bottom is half a pool noodle wrapped in camo burlap. Wanted to make it float a little higher.
