I have a son stationed at Fort Sill and really missing him! I been thinking of trying to go visit and me and him do a couple day hunt or something! I know absolutely nothing about Oklahoma and wondering if anyone lives in that area that could tell me is it worth trying to hunt a few days or give me any info about that part of the country? I would be looking at going in October or November and any suggestions on what to hunt that time of year, and in that area, would be appreciated! Just looking to spend some quality time with him and get him outdoors.

That is Aaron Proffitt's backyard...

Get ahold of him and he can give you the scoop.

Just a heads up... Lawton isn't Chicago. But it has always had a gritty element to it. Keep that in mind.

I was through there last year and looked like really good Quail country.

I took my artillery training at Ft. Sill and Lawton was that way in 1960. But most of the ones I dealt with are dead by now! LOL

I was stationed there 2010-12. There is some public land deer hunting near there and some good coyote hunting. They're hitting the hogs pretty hard so they're spooky and more a target of opportunity. Great duck and goose hunting later in the year on Tom Stead reservoir and some of the smaller creeks. The rabbit population was way down from the last time I was there in 1995, I assume because of all the hawks. Some good cat calling too in the creek bottoms. Some good fishing around there too, I mostly hit the creeks but the lakes can be good too. You should be able to find something to do. Make sure he takes you to The Old Plantation for dinner, foods pretty good and the town is cool.
