Back when Mn only had few area codes, calling someone a 612er wasnt about their mental abilities or lack there of it was about the difference in lifestyle they represented vs ours.
I'm with you Osky, I wish they would keep their money and the ideals that come out of the metro area.
I thought that was what I said? Probably what you said word for word. You have to realize I rode the short bus as a child, I'm a little slow 14 fish limit les? You are old enough to remember we had a 20 fish limit at one time. When the resorts get their way we'll be down to six in another year.

Northern people, the lifestyle, and the northern geography were doing just fine before old Wendell. The folks were happy and darn hard working, the deer were living long enough to turn into moose, and the fish were calling to wake the over sleepy fisherman each morning. "Free" redistributed money came at a sad price.

I was sort of hoping trapstickman would demonstrate how deer turn into moose..... Now that would be Nice to see! Look on page two of this post ...Trapstickman gives a detailed explanation with pics to boot.
I'm just happy to be here! Today I'm as young as I'll ever be and and older than I've ever been before!

I enjoyed that 20 fish limit too. It was short lived, and came about as sort of a knee jerk reaction/bonus for the anglers after commercial fisherman were extirpated from the lake. We were one of the commercial fishing families that had to take a buy out.

Should have showed them your hi cheekbones Les, then they would have seen you folks were Indian enough and let your family go on fishing. Probably handed you free college, made one of you a " native " senator. Osky

Yeah, I had relatives before me try to get their injun cards. Metis blood don't count in MN . Where I live, it was settled from the north to the south, when the CN railway was built to go from Manitoba to Ontario, but through the US on the south side of LOW. Otherwise it was just settlements around the perimeter of the lake before that, like Zippel, Lude, Arnesen, and so on.
When I was a kid the correct terminology was "city slicker" and we were taught early on just what they were.
PS... unless you are from the north or Canada, you probably cant pronounce Metis correctly either.
