My polaris went run worth a crap. Had set in garage since Jan. Got it out to try to ride it a little. Was running ok when I started it and drove around the yard. Then started running like crap. Pumped out old gas added seafoam, and fresh gas. Still won't run very well. Missing coughing backfiring. Any ideas?

Even with Seafoam and fresh gas, you may have to pull and clean the carburetor. Not just a quick clean but completed disassembly and clean each part before reassembly. Gas today isn't like it used to be and will go bad in a very short time. I help out at a small engine shop and do countless carbs each week because of such poor quality gas. Oh, we stopped using Sea foam several years ago and switch to Startron with no regrets!

Sea foam will not be found here either. Bad stuff in my machines.
It does sound like a fuel delivery problem. Clean and check everything. Do the cheap fixing first.

Yes on fuel injection. I'll check battery tomorrow. Battery was dead when I went to start after sitting. Charged over night before I rode it.

I have a 2014 570. Never missed a beat. I did find the fuel injection system liked good battery voltage. The smallest bit of weakness in the battery and no go. I modified mine to take aassove battery out of a hovercraft and never an issue again.

Your issue sounds like crud in the fuel. I don't know anything about cleaning the fuel injection system however or if it is even a do it yourself type of thing.

i had a 2013polaris 800 ranger that I once took the fuel out of my boat ( not mixed fuel ) that I had added treatment to and put in the ranger to use up and it wouldn’t run for crap. Drained that fuel out and filled with new and never missed a beat

Just got back from trail riding in the Black Hills. One of the guys had a 2015 570 sportsman and it died after the first day. Googled it and found the fuel pump is a common issue. Sent a guy to Belle Fourche and had it up and running. Just looked for this post tonight to reply but you beaat me to it. Glad you got it fixed. Did it cost 500.00 too?

Got my 2014 Polaris 570 Sportsman in 2015, slightly used. It is an OK machine. Not a great machine. But it was also a lot lot cheaper than the Yamaha next to it.

pay the extra for gas without ethanol. use it in everything but your car/pickup built with fuel lines and etc that are designed for ethanol.

From someone who uses his Polaris ATV literally every day as a daily driver, you could pay me to run a Honda, but I wouldn't do it for free. We have about a 1980 something Honda four trax we keep fixing and using at work, and after test driving a few Hondas I can say that I haven't been on a new Honda that rides and handles much different. Nothing but rough bedrock and rocky trails here and the way I ride both my 570 and 500 Sportsman make riding fun and easy on the back. Also, when I want to go for a good fast trail ride on closed snowmobile trails, or a faster trail they handle really well. Getting a few feet of air is good fun. I am building a cabin and just hauled a 2000 lb lift of pine siding a few miles up the road to my house, up the steep driveway, into my yard and then back without feeling any strain. I use it all year to launch my boats, 1000 lb waverunner, haul hundreds of pounds of carcasses, tow ice shacks, and other various stupid and random things. For the way I use them, my Polaris have never missed a beat, and I bought them both used. almost 5000 miles on the 570 now. Changed one belt. The guy before me used it for mudding I think and broke a rear axle, so says the service report. I have had it buried and no issues since. Maybe a bad axle. Only complaint I have is that the air breather for the clutches opens right ahead of the seat and if left in the rain for prolonged periods the clutches get some water inside and will slip. The water just drips off the gas tank and into the vent. Pulling the clutch drain plug for twenty seconds or so drains it, so no big deal. The 500 doesn't have this issue and from the first owner has never been in the shop other than to change one belt. On third set of tires.

Hutch - when did you decide to change your 570's belt? Did it start slipping noticeably? Did it make a squeal or slipping sound? Thanks for the encouragement. My 2014 Polaris 570 gets exactly the opposite use from yours, overall very light for forestry work, towing a small trailer with forestry tools, often up some steep inclines, and occasionally pulling light logs out of the woods with a chain. It has held up well, but then again, after four years it has 1,200 miles and 120 hours. Or something like that. Very low numbers.

The sportsman 570 I own had 52.5 hours on when fuel pump quit. Always ran premium gas. This isnt a uncommon trait in these i guess. If it happens again ill fix it again right b4 i trade it off

Agreed. I use nothing but in my boats, log splitter, lawnmower, generator, chainsaw and ATV. They all had issues after sitting long spells before going ethanol free.

Too many guys I know have a Polaris and they are generally walking back to the truck to call me for a tow.
I have a Kawasaki and would say it's about as good as a Honda. Sold my 1984 Honda 200S three wheeler three years ago to a turkey hunter so I could by the Kawasaki.

Can Am - naw!

The Japanese have it figured out.
