I put 8-10-12 pelts together with a string through one eye hole and hang on nails in my attic.
leave on the stretcher till dry. if I run the heater in my shed and the dehumidifier 3 days is plenty.
you will be able to tell after you have done a few when they are dry. don't rush things. you cant really leave them on to long.

Different times for different skins. Fox and bobcat dry fast and rats dry even faster. Coyote takes longer and a rub of boric acid in the pits and head will help it finish. Coon take longer and need to be wiped down as they "sweat." For me otter and beaver take the longest. Perhaps I need to get better at scraping them. You can squeegee a lot of that fat/oil out of the hide when you get it on the board. I've got a tool that Ack makes, looks like a heavier duty ice scraper, and push that oil off the hide. Done right you'll never have to touch the hide again until you deboard it.

Hanging rats or mink up In the rafters after they are off the boards Is just plain wrong. Especially rats you do not want those rats to keep on drying. Rats are graded by feel and weight you want those rats hydrated so they don't get that nasty crinkly sound when they are graded. Stuff those rats In a cardboard box and keep them cool. Pack them as tight as you can.

Leave them on the boards until they are dry.Its best to dry in a cool place,I like 10c,but not always possible. At 10c with low humidity the thickest pelts(beaver) dry in 5 or 6 days if scraped well.2 to 3 days at room temp. For storage, cool is best again, but most important so the dry pelts keep their shape is a constant humidity. If they are stored where the humidity fluctuates they will wrinkle, bow or otherwise lose the nice shape.Best place to store pelts if possible is in freezer. If you are holding dry skins over summer,a freezer is foolproof for a trapper.

Get to know what on looks like dry. Couple days if you have heat on them. Ill go a week on some just because I was doing something else. Sometimes I need the stretchers.
