How does that work? The dried borax absorbs the blood?

I guess so. Just put the borax on, let it set a bit then brush it out.

It looks bigger than mine but should work. Just insert it enough to split a bit then re-insert and split a bit more. Continue until tail is totally split as shown in my previous post. Just take it easy until you get accustomed to the procedure.

Who is 'we,' Dirt? Is that a quote from NAFA? It doesn't surprise me about opposums or squirrels, but I figured weasels would go for something.

I don't like storing for a year or two, as was 1 of the suggestions in Dirt's quote from NAFA.

If your trapping is a commercial enterprise you need to play the market and process your incidental catches. Dried pelts store well in the freezer and take up very little space.

Would weasel be very susceptible to freezer burn?

AJE, I'm not going to recommend this but this is what I did. I stored dried weasels in a cardboard box ; 2 years were the oldest. Not in a freezer except in the winter. The older ones got a little toward orange in the small fatty areas. They all came back from the tannery fine. I don't know if NAFA grades weasels stale? My guess, weasels not being very fatty, will not go bad for years just stored in a cool area out of light.
