walleyed finally spotted a few consecutive days of good weather & warmer temperatures, and laid out a small muskrat line on Stony Creek with the canoe.

We were surprised the amount of sign found and strung out a total of 50 #160 Duke body-grips and spotted some potential Beaver sets for tomorrow.

Hopefully, we'll have 25 or so rats to skin in the morning if the muskrat gods are good to us.

Hope the wind don't blow tomorrow.

Stay tuned.

I was on the water at 7:30AM and It was already snowing with a damp, chilling cold to the air. It was calm and the water clarity had increased.

I had just watched the weather forecast at the diner and "they" were calling for heavier snow, 25 knot winds, and highs in the 20's for Wednesday morning in the vicinity.

Based on that forecast I decided to pull everything this morning rather than suffer through pulling in bad weather tomorrow.

I'd hoped for a 50% catch on the 50 #160's I had set yesterday, but I was off the mark on my prediction. smile

When the muddy water from pulling my sets cleared, walleyed had 24 plump muskrats, laugh

plus a Female American Merganser who had made the fatal mistake

of chasing perch up a muskrat run that was guarded by my #160.

I left her in the cattails for the raccoons to breakfast upon.

Discretion being the better part of valor, I was pleased to note the the wind had picked up

and the snow was falling heavily by the time I arrived back at the boat ramp

reinforcing my belief that pulling today was a wise decision in order to avoid

being lashed by inclement weather in the morning.

The muskrat catch is drying before the box fans and we'll be skinning tonight when they are dry.

Thanks for looking.

Stay tuned.
