I have a 46cc reminton chainsaw that is a little lean on the slow mixture. Customer service gave me the run around saying it didnt have adjustment screws when it clearly does. I asked him what tool they use to adjust it and he told me they had to destroy them all because of EPA rules. The manual says take it to a dealer to be adjusted but customer service says no. Anybody know what tool it takes? Please dont say a screw driver. It a remington rm4618 made by mtd. I know its really off topic and the chainsaw sites say nothing. Brand new never used.

Google the make and model followed by "carb adjustment tool". I ran into the same thing with Husqvarna. It takes about an 1/8" nut driver.

I found one for my Husky online, too. I bet these tools are pretty standard industry wide.

Supposedly the EPA won't let them sell the adjusting tools, so people can't miss adjust their carbs and cause pollution . Check Ebay. I ordered a set of six different adjusting drivers, D, double D, Pacman, Hex, And two different splines. They have worked on everything I have run into so far. I am all for protecting the environment but how much do these small engines really contribute. I run out of gas long before my chainsaw does.

It's not the pollution.........they're afraid your saw might start a forest fire in California.

A badly adjusted chainsaw carb messes up the emissions and is bad for trees. Wait a minute ....... take the chain of the saw as that is bad for trees as well.

Let's go Brandon

I thought about taking the carb off and cutting off the part they are inset in then cutting slots in the screws. Hate to butcher a brand new saw

There has to be a way to access the adjustment screws. If the "shop" can do it...........so can you. Might have to make a tool.

oh the irony of it all.

oh dear my chain saw used an extra 3 ounces of fuel !

cutting a cord of wood that saves me burning 100 gallons of #2 home heating oil.

stove is toasty warm tonight.

America only has one issue, we have a Responsibility crisis and everything else stems from it.

The limiters are a pain. That is what you are dealing with. I use drywall screws, dremels, and a slotted piece of copper depending on the model I'm tunning. Get a cheap tach. Don't tune that little saw to ear.
Google removing limiters on a chainsaw. I would consider opening up the muffler with some holes.
Good luck

If you're cutting 10-15 cords per year, full RPM makes a difference

Big difference. That saw is actually not that bad if you know what to do with them. But you may want a little more grunt if you are cutting in PA. I just looked at some books in my shop, but you can get an aftermarket Walbro carb for probably 10 bucks? I believe it is the wt 215, but don't quote me on that one.

I just put a new stove in our house. I'm not kiddin, but I'm using half the wood, and only loading twice a day. Love it. I have a sauna, garage, and shop to heat also. Wish I could afford a couple more of these woodstock stoves.
