Is it worth it? For what I need to cover my 6 month old lab it would run $45.00 per month. But of course it would increase as she gets older. Or, is it better to put back that money every month into an account just for her vet care? Thanks, Sarge

Depends how much is your dog worth and how much is it worth to you

Does its breed generally have any common health problems such as hip displasi ect
How much can you afford it something does go wrong as most vets it’s cash up front
Does your vet take pet insurance some don’t
Can you put that money aside and really not touch it unless you have a problem
Lots to think of

For 45 dollars a month you would be able to buy a new improved version every 10 months or so.

That's for those folks buying poorly bred designer doodles or a set of show papers. Buy good working stock and you won't have general health problems.

You guys shoot straight and Sarge appreciates that. No BS. I have decided to set aside funds for vet care and plus our savings if need be. It pays to have several accounts or coffee cans. LOL Thanks, Sarge

Well labs are known for snapping knee ligaments. I've done both knees on mine ...Not cheap. But over the course of her life (now 15) I'm still ahead by not having bought the insurance.

I think the separate account is a good, and better, idea personally.

My opinion is the insurance on dogs is not worth it! I raise Labradors and y'all would faint if you knew what I pad for the last three i bought and especially after having them shipped, but after checking on insurance...its just didn't make sense! I would recommend asking around to secure a great vet that has common sense and that shoots straight with you about any concerns or problems!
