It is time for the 3rd Annual Trapperman beavertail challenge!

The rules are easy. Post a picture of the biggest beavertail on a beaver you have caught THIS YEAR, and if you have the WIDEST beaver tail by the LAST DAY IN FEBRUARY, you win.

I’m adding a second category this year. Hutchy’s suggestion it is – Longest dried raccoon pelt.

Beaver Submissions

A picture of the tail, with a tape measure across it, along with a picture of you and the beaver will do. Please make sure the measurement picture is clear, and accurate. Tail only submissions won’t count. I'll post updated standings from the thread submissions periodically so we won't have to hunt through. Multiple entries allowed.

Raccoon Submissions

Tip of nose to tip of hair on tail stretched and dried. Picture should show tape measure clearly. Pelt should be lying flat, with no hands on the tail or head “pulling” and not be on the board when taken. We may have to adjust this as we go but lets start there.

Let me get this straight, it says the beaver must be caught this YEAR, well the last day in this year is December 31st. I guess we have 2 months to submit the picture's.(this is sarcasm)

Here's a suggestion, why not extend the contest to include the spring beaver season for those of use who solely target beaver in the spring?

Shoot I wish i would have known about the coon-I have a couple of 44" coon and they are dried but the tails are pleated.And the coons are all stretched on 9" wide boards-so the width must be taken into consideration as well-YES OR NO?

For those of us up North I Agree with whartontrappe. But good luck to everyone.

46 1/4 inches formed on 9" board as I do with all my big coon. I may have bigger ones in my storage. Will be going through them today.

If beaver from last spring count, here is one my sun caught last spring. Just a tad over 8".

I got one this fall that was 7 something but only have a picture of the tail measurement.

Suggestion on coon. Width at tail should also be considered. i.e. board used should meet industry standards.

Some dandy coon! If there is a second category next time, may I suggest mink as some of us don't have any coon running around.

Bigger than the last one I submitted.

Here’s my beaver tail submission.

OK this one was hard to get into one shot. It is 55.5" with the tail and 42" from nose to tail. I had to pleat the tail to get him on a 54" board. LLL
