Heading to Iowa December 7th for 4-5 days. No exact game plan in tact yet. Will be mainly hunting public lands and knocking on a few doors. Its been quite a few years since we've been there
but really looking forward to going back. Any tips or advise on good populations? No county is out of the question. Been hearing some good things about different areas of the state. Thanks.

Iowa.
Here's my tip.

STAY HOME!!

I haven't seen a pheasant around my part of Iowa in over a year.

I drive 20 miles to work 1 way through the country. And no birds.

I live by Cedar Rapids.

Brad

I see them often, in or near road ditch, which are legal to hunt in, I jumped a decent amount of them checking traps

Can you still hunt pheasants during the 2nd shotgun season? I haven't even looked. Thanks for all the other advise.

Yes you can. I would be covered in orange head to toe so the orange army doesnt mistake you for a deer.

Iowa has pheasants? In NE Iowa, the birds disappeared along with the CRP ground. The only birds I see in my area are on some guys private pheasant refuge. I think you would have a better chance of seeing Big Foot or a Unicorn.
