Conditioners,show sheen,etc etc . you can out the luster back in to washed fur.

In my earlier years I once used a pet spot bot (wet vac) on all my coyotes to get the blood out. I waited till they were dried and off the boards before bothering to clean them. I then sprayed them with the wet vac cleaning solution where there was blood and vac'd it out. Also sprayed some oxyclean on them and wet vac'd that off as well. All this was done while the skin was already dried and off the board. Had some of my best coyotes ever on that auction. Was probably coincidence, and it was a lot of work, but I think it's a testament as to what sort of craziness a person can do and in the end how you get there is up to you. And no, I have not done this since, I was new to the sport and well, we've all probably done some pretty odd things we look back and shake our head at.

You know guys, this is a wonderful site. I get to learn from those who know more then me and help educate those who know less. What we share is our own experience and it works for us. It isn't right of wrong, but it sometimes begins to feel like it becomes that. If using an air compressor/ brush satisfies you..do it. If washing makes you feel better about your end product...do it. I don't rely on the assumption mine will go to auction and get tumbled anyway for the fact if they are clean and brushed out and done up right they are marketable anywhere. You know the Groney video about giving him the benefit of the doubt,well why would you give a buyer an opportunity to dock your fur. I keep all options on the table.Besides I wouldn't be telling on social media that I didn't take care of my fur and then post I am going to meet Groney at the truck,lol.

I wash all coyotes. It takes at least 3 washings in a bucket to get clean. No, I don't catch 200 a year. But the ones I do catch, I want looking as good as possible. They might get sold to someone other than the auctions. Use to use an old wringer washer, it died on me. I also tumble everything. Its unbelievable how they look when done.I take alot of pride on how my fur looks, the buyer always remarks about my put up. There is not a right or wrong way, just what works for you.

Adding washing & tumbling to my system really does not take up much more time as everything is in rotation. Personally I believe the coyotes & coons look and feel much nicer after the have gone thru the process, and our weather here in Nov/Dec/Jan is rain/snow/ and lots of mud thru out the whole season.

Different strokes for different folks I guess. I know what these northern MN dirt caught butt sniffers look like and smell like when they come in the door. The only shine or luster on most of these mutts is the grease on their ruff from the last decaying carcass they rolled in. And I know what they look like leaving after a couple trips through the old Maytag.

Dirty weather coyotes all get sold alive they don't take to washing . LOL
We start hanging snares tomorrow In most cases we aren't trapping In muddy conditions. It's hard to make a silk purse out of a sows ear when It comes to WI coyotes.
I refuse to wash a coyote.

Funny, a big male I caught yesterday was the stinkiest one yet, and a pain in the a$$ to skin to boot.... He is smelling like M&T now though...

I'll put all of my fur up against anybodys washed fur any day of the week and none of it is washed nor drummed.

It is really a mute point boco. I have seen your fur and it looks great. In the Midwest and east we deal with mudballs. Sometimes you don't know what you have until it is cleaned. Actually just got done with a couple that took 5 minutes in the wash and 10 more with the jet dryer. On the boards. Come back flip and 4 days off the boards.

I too wash all my hides. I dispatch in the head so blood is something I deal with on almost every hide. I soak my hides in a 5 gal bucket overnight to loosen dirt/blood, then dunk the heck out of them in fresh water bucket the following day to clean them, even the non bloody hides will amaze you with how much dirt they hold. Any remaining blood gets brushed out when they are turned on the stretcher. Everyone has their own method and that's great, this method works great for me, and produces some nice furs.

These might look clean but far from it.

I’ve washed with a bit of woolite, then hit them with a show sheen / olive oil mix on the flip. Really makes them shine. Same hair foo we used on show cattle back in the day.

I just can't bring myself to take a perfectly DRY coyote hide and wash It.
Spot wash the bad spots and I'm done.
