Did you ever wonder why earrings became so popular with men?

A man is at work one day when he notices his co-worker is wearing an earring The man knows his co-worker to be a normally conservative fellow and is curious about his sudden change in "fashion sense."

The man walks up to him and says, "I didn't know you were into earrings." "Don't make such a big deal, it's only an earring," he replies sheepishly.

His friend falls silent for a few minutes but then his curiosity prods him to ask, "So, how long have you been wearing one?"

"Ever since my wife found it in my truck."

I always wondered how this trend got started.

Maybe that's how transvestitism started too.

I always thought it was because those men were heavy into pirate movies. When I was a kid, they were the only men that wore ear rings.

I’ve known a couple of guys who’ve worn ear rings. When asked, it was to commemorate the lives of their children lost to drugs and such. It’s their business what they wear so I don’t ask anymore.

The original reason for men to wear earrings was supposedly because most sailors were so poor that they would save up until they had enough to buy a gold earring so that when they died there would be enough funds to give them a proper burial.

Don't know if it is really true or not.

How much does it cost to throw a pirate overboard?

Didn't it have some symbolic meaning for crossing the equator?

I read somewhere that it was a tradition for a sailor to get his ear pierced when they crossed the equator and saw the southern cross for the first time.

I always wondered who the guy was that came up with the idea of a neck tie and why other men thought it was a good idea.

I suspect that started as a practical piece of clothing to keep out the cold.........but morphed into today's neck tie

It was when a sailor ship had sunk and live from it. When a sailor cross the equator is when he become a shellback. You do not wear a ear ring for that.I am a shellback .

I have a hole in my ear. Don't wear an earring and never really did. The whole thing started like the song, "There was this girl" that and to much Tequila....

Wish I had more time to trap....

Sounds like some of you guys are shallow enough to judge a person by what he wears? Next it'll be "What's up with all those guys who drive red (pick any brand) trucks?" Never judge a book by it's cover....

I'm a self-employed contractor. I have to be a good judge of people, both customers and employees.

This guy might be a good, upstanding citizen but there's no way I'm hiring him to work inside customer's homes.

Any adult American who want to be tattooed, pierced, wear his hair long or colored should feel free to do it.
And any employer who chooses not hire candidates who do those things to themselves should be free to do that.
