(Updated photo and write-up as of 16 September 2019.) These knives are shop "users". Not meant to be carried or "display" knives. Fashioned from bandsaw sawmill blades so, yes, they do hold an edge. Scales of American black walnut, or fire-killed western juniper. Each knife individually handmade, so there are slight differences. These will last. Prices of either the pelter, the skinner, or the beaver knife are $25.00 plus shipping. PM me if interested. Thanks for looking. Hope everybody has a great fur season coming up. Shown are representative knives. I make these on demand, and currently have about 50 made up. All the knives in this image are western juniper. On the left are "skinners". Right are "pelters". Of course, bottom two are "beavers".

I disagree Jack, I think they make great display knifes...nice traditional look...really like mine... Thanks
Thought I was a good trapper until I started trapping coyotes...... Thought I was a good bowhunter until I targeted mature bucks....

Beautiful knives Gulo. I just might have to save my pennies to pick up one of each. And like has been mentioned, there are some of us who appreciate the old time look and simplicity of knives and other objects. After I close a couple of deals that I'm currently committed to I'll be contacting you.
One question that I've been dying to ask and have been too embarrassed to ask is, what is the difference between a pelter and a skinner and what are their different jobs?
You can't cheat the mountain pilgrim. Mountain's got its own ways.

Trap4fur - Thank you sir. Glad you like 'em.
TheBig1 - The pelters are the triangle blade. I use them for opening about everything. I use them exclusively for muskrats, mink, marten, skunks. The skinners are the drop-point. I use them for skinning out coyotes, red fox, bobcats, wolves and wolverine. I also use the skinners to gut and skin deer, elk, caribou, moose, pronghorn, bears. For me, 2 different knives for two different duties.

Gulo,
If they are still available, I gotta' have one of those beaver knives. But, I don't know what "PM" means. Please tell me, in intricate detail, how I can get my hands on one of those.
O.K. Now I know what "P.M." means. I will try to email this post.
Well, that didn't work. Gulo, hope to hear back from you.
Jack M.
