Do muskrats bite mink or do mink fight year round? I caught a nice male with a partially healed bite right in the middle of its back. I caught one a couple of years ago with a fresh bite. The bites look like what rats do to each other in the spring. Just curious.

Might be a hawk had a go at him, but him must have gotten away.

i am sure a muskrat will bite a mink that is trying to kill it, i sure would. and mink also fight year round. the entire mustelid family is extremely territorial and somewhat ill tempered. they are also notoriously brave. mink, weasel, otter, badger, wolverine, marten, fishers are all mustelids.

Mink on Mink. They are not social animals. Biggest predator for young mink is a male mink. Mating time the males will fight to the death without making a sound, just grab each other by the throat and roll. Even right after mating if the female can't escape the male she may be killed and eaten.

But I thought all the animals lived and loved each other in Bambi.... shocked?

I read yesterday a serial poacher was sentenced to a year in jail and has to watch Bambi at least once a month. It is supposed to make him empathize more with the animals. Isn't that a bunch of bologna.
