The world has things called laundromats. It costs 1.75, not 600 dollars for a new washing machine and going deaf from your wife reminding you of what you did to her most cherished possession on the planet (It became that when you washed a coyote in it).
Place it fur side out, inside a pillow case, again another wife problem, unless you were foresighted enough to pick one up for a quarter at Goodwill. This also prevents irate laundromat owners calling the police and your having to explain what your fetish is with washing animal skins.
Use only a washing machine that is front loaded, or in other words one which rotates as it is easier on the fur than a top load agitator. .
Cold water, cold rinse, gentle cycle. Any kind of baby soap will do with a softener.
No need to dry, as spinning will handle most of the water, and all you do is snap the fur as if it rained on it, I would mention a hair drier but I doubt your wife would be endeared on that one either.
Dry on the stretcher as you would any other coyote and brush out. Just be aware that astute fur buyers start wondering why a pelt smells like baby soap as what is the history of the pelt and it will be checked a bit more thorough.
Lastly, I think you have this backwards in what the problem is, as all of the seasoned married men on here, all have their wives trained to skin, flesh, stretch and comb out their husband's furs. This is why the people married for years never ask questions like this, about washing hides, because their wives have been doing this since dating.
Happy Maytag.

Reading the various posts in this thread should be a reminder to young married fellas of the importance of early training. If your spouse is not conditioned to the ways of a trapper early in the marriage, she will think she owns the washing machine exclusively, rather than it being a shared item. I can pretty much assure you that those who are using the bucket method or sneaking off to the laundromat fell short on the training and conditioning of their wives early in their marriage and are now paying the price. I have been washing our nasty, red clay stained West Virginia coyotes in our family washing machine for years. It brings their quality up to par with Montana Pales. I have encountered very few problems with the wife. This I can assure you is because of the up front efforts I put in 31 years ago when we first got married. Young men listen closely!! LOL what? What a ridiculous thing to say. I've butchered dozens of deer and beef right on the kitchen table. My taxidermy shop was in the house. My wife has long understood what to expect with me. But I have no desire to have her wash my clothes in the same washer I used on lice, flea, and stink ridden coyotes.

I wash the ones that really need it, blood, mud, etc. on regular cycle so the agitation is fairly normal. I then double check spots and give them a hand scrubbing if need be for really caked in blood. You will be amazed at how much dirt/blood comes out in your water. I then spin them at least once and let hang for a bit. Comb them out straightening the hair before tumbling otherwise the media can/will get caked in the hair in spots. All of this is done before fleshing as well otherwise I don't see a huge difference vs. combing out, tumbling in media and then combing out again. Honestly, it is a lot of work and prefer to just hand scrub with water, pat dry with towel and then tumble.

I've done hundreds in the family top load washer just remember the following points: -permanent press or gentle cycle -cold water -clean out the hair -quick bleach rinse when done I use the cheap walmart detergent, a little liquid fabric softener (optional) fluffs them up nicely. I've never used the drier just drip dry for a couple hours and board.
As for those raving about the revenge of the wife. Well John Houben hit the nail on the head. If she won't let you use the washer for coyotes she isn't worth having anyway.

I have hard time understanding why someone would take their furs to a laundromat to wash.
Evidently you don't want your clothes washed in a washer that just cleaned a dirty coyote but you feel it's ok for someone to use the same washer that you just washed a coyote in at the laundromat. ^^^^ Me too ^^^^ Very inconsiderate towards other users.
