Missouri Department of Conservation used to send out a damage control trapper years ago that would make sets for coyotes in the morning and then come back that evening and do some howling in the vicinity of the sets he had a reputation for being able to really catch problem coyotes .

I have five of those. They were in non working condition when I got them. The fix was replacing the power lead to the battery. I use them occasionally by placing them high. The 9v battery lasts two weeks, or so, for me.
