My accounts are down tens of thousands over the past couple months. I sold a few companies early to preserve some of my gains, but I'm holding the others and riding this one out. Most of what I own pay decent dividents so I'll let those build up and buy at these lows. Solid. I haven't lost 10s of thousands but still down. But still just holding out. Buying more when I have extra cash.

Since 2009 we have been steadily going up (bull market) now it is time to go down (bear market) the market is doing what the market does. I'm not to alarmed we all know what goes up must come down and that is what is happening. The only thing I hope is the bear is a nice bear and goes back in its den sooner then later.

Most of what I own pay decent dividents so I'll let those build up and buy at these lows. I'm sure you're already aware that dividends aren't free...they're deducted form the value of the stock on the "ex-dividend" date. So unless the price of the stock otherwise goes up, dividends deplete the value of the stock.

Grackle's point has validity in that over time dividends have provided a bit over 60% of total return in the market. Significantly more than price appreciation.
