source Just this morning I have heard a couple of the market "experts" refer to what going on a s the "trump slump". I don't think that is going to sit well with the pres. Will he tweet something that makes things worse, or can he allow himself to ignore them and let things find a place to settle?
I like to make some more buys at this level, but I'm going to try to wait a while. ^ source matters! The media in any event they report, want the worst news possible to report on because that draws viewers, Right! I just read, that retail sales have been the highest in 10 years and all the positive things happening with our economy is very healthy data. Many media finical reports spread the news of panic and people sell and that is what they want you to do. Then they come in and buy low and they win in a sense and the circus starts over. LOL

Is there something wrong with the stock market? Appears the market does not like the Fed raising interest rates to 2.5%. That is awful high. "The Fed kept the rate at zero between 2008 and 2015. Recession ended in June 2009."

I know guys that are pulling their money out and putting in something safe. Even though I've lost 150k last month I'm sticking even more into it while it's down and hope it recovers well enough for me to retire in 5 or 6 yrs. And pray my plan works.
I can explain it to you, but I can't understand it for you.

Source matters. The media is reporting on what they do best. They want to report the worst and bad things soo they get viewers. The worst thing you can do is panic and sell right now. That is what finical world wants people to do, so they can buy low and you loose, they win.
Remember! You haven't lost or gain anything in times of high or low, UNLESS YOU SELL! Nothing has changed so hunker down and forget about all the noise the media is feeding you. I just read where retail sales have been the best in 10 years and all the healthy economy news is great a positive but you never hear media talk on it. Not much any way.
Hunker down weather the storm and life goes on, no harm done, when markets go up and down. IMO only.

Ok lets says Mr. Public likes to be a bull (well did upto awhile back, his accounts are on a diet right now) So is all this money being lost down a hole some place or is it just changing hands to Mrs. Bear and if its just just changing hands then where will those people be keeping it. I can't beleive those 2.95% cd's( hoopee aren't you excited Dirt) are going to attract much. So where will it go. Please dont say the Feds have shorted the market to build the wall, lol. Remember......you can make money in a down market too. And as Snowy says, unless you sell you haven't lost anything. Actually the rate of return now on cash is in fact adding to the volatility. Some folks will get out of the bond market as well as stocks, and into a money market or a CD, Still earn a barely positive real rate of return, with much less risk.................and of course, much less potential for return.

^exactly, to add to that White is >>>
The higher their expectations of inflation, the less they will pay for bonds. The lower they expect inflation to be, the more they will pay.
In bonds, lower prices correspond to higher yields, and higher prices correspond to lower yields. When prices fall, yields rise, and vice versa.
The one thing right now is where is inflation going?? Some uncertainty, for sure, so people are doing the sure bet in MM, CD's and savings accounts etc.. they know what they are getting. I also beleive some just sell not knowing what they are selling.

LOL The experts who used the "trump slump" label were a couple guests on one of the financial morning shows on CNBC or foxBusiness. The strong signs of consumer activity is being mentioned a lot today too. The market been has bouncing along in a positive direction so far today. Maybe the good signs are calming things down a bit? Things have been going so well in the market for the past several years that I think many investores are worried that they may have waited too long to ring the register and preserve their gains. The big question is; What does one do with all his money if he cashes in his investments that are in stocks right now? The thought of a safe 3% isn't very appealing.
