It hasn't affected me at all so far, so why should I give a seconds thought to the guys working at the federal prison and other such places who will likely not be paid this Friday even though they still go to work everyday?
Why would anyone care what happens to a fellow American if he isn't effected himself? Besides, these folks work for the government......

Opened up my schedule a little bit with DOJ not able to attend meetings.

Give it long enough and you'll see how the lack of government will erode the quality of this country.

Not this one when Obama shut it down which you hear nothing about this time I had to leave a army corp of engineer campground and couldn't go through the skyline drive through Shenandoah National Park.

Not here. We have a friend at church that are "non-essential" and his department (something with soil and farmers) had funding for a few more weeks, but if they have to go without a paycheck, they will not be okay.

Looks like I'm going to miss a paycheck for the work I completed-that is working for no pay! But, I guess since I'll get paid "eventually" it doesn't matter even though I'm still required to go to work. Still, I have bills that need paid, just like everyone else.

It's no big deal don't effect me a bit..I do wish there was a way though that I could stop paying my taxes while it's supposedly shut down. See how long they like that. wouldn't take them long they'd send one of them unpaid worker come get me lock me up. Have another unpaid worker baby sit me.

Does the aggravation of watching career politicians jockey for position count?

Lets take this opportunity and get rid of a few Gov't employees.
We all know that there are too many as is.

Yes. I am one of those government workers that is currently furloughed. Will miss our first paycheck this week, but fortunately have financially planned for events like this and will be ok for awhile. Enjoying being able to spend some extra time with my family.

Interesting to see some of the perspectives of different people on here. On any given day, my guess is that if any of the folks in a private sector job didn't work for three weeks, I wouldn't notice it a bit either. That fact doesn't make their job any less necessary and I sure wouldn't suggest we should get rid of their job because of it.

should just change it from a shutdown to a layoff and only bring back the best of the best.2 or 3 rounds of it even would be a start.
