For anyone that has a Mach 3 or Fusion razor, the Schick brand Hydro refill cartridges fit them. Still trying to figure out if any of Schick's refills fits the girl's Venus razors.
Anybody else notice that all but one of the bullies and sexist pigs were white and the majority of the enlightened heros were not?
This ad is a liberal's wet dream. "Toxic masculinity," what a freaking joke!
Who is Gillette's target demographic here? My guess would be metrosexuals and gays.
The only reason they might think this successful with real men is that it might possibly shame us into using their products to neuter ourselves thereby ridding ourselves of "toxic masculinity" and becoming the kinder, gentler eunuchs the left seems to want all males to be.
I heard a soundbite today where Joy Behar (The View) was commenting on this ad and said she thought, "President Obama was the opposite of toxic masculinity."
Huh? I don't get it? what did it say that arouses concern? actually what did it say at all?
Did you watch it? They're saying if you let your kids get into fights, call a lady sweetie, goose your wife's butt, etc... that you're toxic. They want you to "shave away" your toxic masculinity and become a nice little girly man that hugs coyotes and eats tofu.
The next chapter in how to sissify the next generation. I say we teach our young men to grow a proper beard and let them choke on their razors. I do appreciate my bride not letting her legs look like a bigfoots back hair though.
Dollar Shave Club and Harry's are both much more affordable, and the same quality razors - without the Political BS attached. This is part of a larger campaign to feminize men in general and force the concept that women are in every way equal to men by reducing men to their level.
I'd be interested to hear Jordan Petersons thoughts on this ad.

Umm. No, I didn't get that at all....all I got from it was don't be a pervert or let your kid be a bully.
Right now I’m having amnesia and déjà vu at the same time. I think I’ve forgotten this before.

There's definitely a few people out there with cavemen mentalities. But, to me, lack of masculinity is a way bigger problem today than toxic masculinity is.

Lack of masculinity is exactly what leads men to sexually harass women and to be bully's.

A true statement if Here ever was one
After seeing that add my take on it is that whoever came up with it see’s all men as sexist and if not bullies potential bullies given half a chance
There is no doubt that some men are jerks just like there are some women who are but in my experience both are a very small percentage of the population
I just find the add stupid and a bit insulting because they are lumping me, my son and every man and boy I know into that group just by reason that we still have a pair
Everything in excess! To enjoy the flavor of life, take big bites. Moderation is for monks. ― Robert A. Heinlein
I had a mom "talk" to me years ago because she didn't like how my daughter was rough housing with her son. She made a big stink about it and being worried it will make him aggressive. During summer break we ran into them and the father was present. We were chatting just the two of us and I make a casual mention of it. He smirked and said he wished his son would be more aggressive and not so soft. Before you get (This word is unacceptable on Trapperman) at the dad, the guy was working extra long shifts as a cop so his wife could stay home and live in a very nice area so he wasn't around as much as he'd like to have been.
I think the kids ended up playing soccer or something....
Well CRAP. Now I guess I have to rub my face with a rock like the Indians did or grow a beard down to my knees. I don't trust myself with a straight razor.
Anybody else notice that all but one of the bullies and sexist pigs were white and the majority of the enlightened heros were not?
I noticed it too.
I don't watch a lot of network TV, but I have noticed that most couples and families portrayed in the commercials, when I do watch TV are interacial. Usually there is a colored man and white woman. The most frequent all white couples I see portrayed in commercials now are 2 gay white men. Occasionally they show a white man with a colored woman. Almost invariably the white man is doing something stupid and is corrected.
I have nothing against interacial couples, but find it strange, that when they are less common, they make up most relationships in commercials. I do see it as an attack on white men, probably because it is.
Switched to Dollar Shave Club a few years ago and havent looked back. For a few dollars a month they send me 5 twin razor refills. They’re good sharp razors that don’t chew up my face. A five pack last me about a month and a half-two months.
So, I watched it again and I still don't see what ya'll are so worked up about. If you went to church and heard a sermon telling you that a real men should respect women and not encourage or allow bullying, would you walk out?
Right now I’m having amnesia and déjà vu at the same time. I think I’ve forgotten this before.
The people that make this kind of stuff up have never been tested in real life, like many things today problems are projected on everyone not the people doing the bad acts. I see a commercial on TV and I look at the wife and say how did I get a white woman! LOL I think people are offended more about the way things are being over sold and now if your traditional your a freak.
I have no problem with the lifestyles they show just they are vastly overselling it to be the more sensitive company to beat another's to it.
Was born in a Big City Will die in the Country OK with that!
The gist that I got from the ad was to generally not be an A-Hole. Why is it upsetting everyone? I don't think being a soldier or a firefighter or what not is the toxic masculinity they are referring to anyways.
Also kind of funny that a demographic who's complaint for years has been "everyone gets too offended to easily", is so offended and butt hurt over a tv commercial.
I use a safety razor which uses old school razor blades. It's a Merkur cost about $30 and a years worth of blades is like $15. Cheap, doesn't clog, and shaves better. As far as the castrating of the American man it's coming the only thing to do is be strong and teach the young the easy way is the wrong path to take.

Yep. Virtue signaling.
They don't really care. But they think they can drum up some more business by advertising how "aware" or "woke" they are. Then the sheep can pat themselves on the back for supporting a company that's so "conscientious."

Hmm, the CC must not have been working right; just many clips of kids being kids- almost dizzying jumps from one clip to the next, but the mirror shots could raise questions about their gender identity, I guess. No TV so didn't see it air.
Had to look "tofu" up. Made from soy and people actually eat it?
The makers of the Gillette razor have a message for the men who use their products: you are horrible, horrible people.
Proctor & Gamble released a two-minute commercial that accuses men of being incubators of sexual harassment and bullying and toxic masculinity.
“Is this the best a man can get? Is it? We can’t hide from it. It has been going on far too long. We can’t laugh it off, making the same old excuses,” a narrator declares.
The ad condemns the phrase “boys will be boys” and then proceeds to show guys chasing around women, engaging in bullying and basically acting like every anti-male stereotype you’ve ever seen.
“This is an important conversation happening, and as a company that encourages men to be their best, we feel compelled to both address it and take action of our own,” Proctor & Gamble’s Pankaj Bhalla told the Wall Street Journal. “We are taking a realistic look at what’s happening today, and aiming to inspire change by acknowledging that the old saying ‘Boys Will Be Boys’ is not an excuse.”
Instead of virtue signaling, I was sort of hoping Gillette would declare war on razor burn, but whatever.
Gillette wants all of us guys to hold each other accountable for our behavior - and they have dedicated themselves to promoting positive, attainable, and inclusive versions of what it means to be a man.
And therein lies the issue – what constitutes the ideal version of a man over at Proctor & Gamble headquarters? John Wayne or Pajama Boy?
There’s no doubt that men who bully and sexually harass women need to be – and must be - called out. But society wants us to believe that masculinity breeds such behavior - that inside the heart of every man is a bully and a boor.
There is literally a war on masculinity in America. It’s being waged in classrooms where professors are trying to convince a new generation of students that there’s something wrong with men who want to protect and provide for their families.
They want you to believe little boys who climb trees and tussle on the playground should be medicated. They believe there’s something evil about letting boys be boys.
My friend, the conservative commentator Allie Stucky, addressed this issue in a powerful “Prager University” segment.
“The growing problem in today’s society isn’t that men are too masculine; it’s that they’re not masculine enough,” she said. “When men embrace their masculinity in a way that is healthy and productive, they are leaders, warriors and heroes. When they deny their masculinity, they run away from responsibilities, leaving destruction and despair in their wake.”
In other words, men behaving badly is not a chromosome issue, it’s an issue of the heart.
“Here’s a secret that every woman knows: Women want real men—men they can count on and, yes, look up to. No amount of feminist theory will change that,” Stuckey said. “I don’t know any woman, at any age, who is attracted to a passive man who looks to her to be his provider, protector and leader. Every woman I know wants a strong, responsible man. That’s not a consequence of a social construct or cultural pressure—it’s innate.”
And that’s what bothers me the most about the Gillette commercial. It's an incredibly unfair stretch to lump all men into the hashtag “me too” basket.
Most of the guys I know are gentlemen - they provide for their families, they protect their loved ones and they stand up to the bullies. They’ve been doing what men have done since the days of Adam.
Enough with the gender shaming, Gillette. Before too long, they’ll be telling us to shave our legs.

Blah, blah, blah, where does it lump all men into one category? That might be how you perceive it, but that's not the message. For the last couple decades the entertainment industry has shown men as drunken idiots who chase women and act stupid. And suddenly we have back lash against men being dirtbags and acting like drunken teenagers, and some men seem to be going: "What? But I thought that was what being a man was."
No, being a man is actually being strong enough to have honor, treat people with respect and stand up for the victim. It's a message that is long over due. The irony is, what was considered old fashioned is suddenly hip. Yes, it's being capitalized on, but it's not that the message that is wrong.
Right now I’m having amnesia and déjà vu at the same time. I think I’ve forgotten this before.
If you honestly believe THAT is the message that Gillette is sending....getting back to old fashion morals, you are completely blind to what is going on.

The ones that were doing it the most are the ones blaming others and are still doing it today! Lumping all men into a pile rather then dealing with the problem ones is hard to swallow. The same people shaming all men are some of the ones that said nothing for years until it became vogue to do so, then it became a weapon.
Never liked bullies and abusers but don't throw me in with them because I'm another man nothing like them, I'm NOT is the point most are trying to make here I believe. Just go and say all Black men are one thing or another and see how the same people react to the same statement heads would explode but is it really any different?

But there is finally some pushback to it. People have been weary of it for a long time and then Trump came along and exposed the divide.

Im sure not for sexual harassment or bullying. But what I did find odd is that the ad is implying that that men shouldnt act like dogs in heat but it shows the women dancing in bikinis and another struting down the street in tight shorts and a mid drift shirt. Maybe men should act more like gentlemen and women might want to act more like ladies if men so offend them. Im betting a lot of women are trying to attract attention. I also think the cartoon inserted in the video was probably from the 50s.
That dad broke up two boys wrestling around....does that mean I should stop giving my boys stick "swords" and telling them to run the other through, so it sticks out their brothers backs? They sure seem to enjoy it.

Get them some fencing helmets and a good coat of trigger and encourage then to go at it. They'll be able to beat up all the wussy boys and get all the girls that are worth having.
Stupid "modern" women think they want wussy men they can boss around. Most will never stay happy in those kind of relationships Most women really want a well rounded man, they can respect.
A friend of mine, Sarah, was dating a nice, but incredibly wussy and overly submissive guy named Ben. They got engaged and Sarah asked me what I thought. I told her that Ben was not man enough for her. I told her that he did not challenge her and that she would get tired of having a guy that always did what she told him too. Sarah has a tendency to be a little manic at times. I told her she needed a man that would reign her in. She immediately got mad at me. A few weeks later she called me and told me that she had called off her engagement. She said that I was 100% correct about Ben not being a strong enough man for her. She told me she had asked her parents and several other friends for advice about getting engaged and all said that he was great for her. After she called off the engagement everyone of them her told her that they thought the same things about Ben, I did and that they did not tell her because they did not want to upset her. She was very appreciative of my honesty.
A couple of years later, she got engaged to a much better, more manly man, after again asking my opinion first. They told me they are going to name their first son Keith.
If you try harder, can you find a more liberal news source?
When I was young, I would be offended if I went to the trouble of dressing up nice and didn't get a couple whistles from construction workers. Now, that's considered assault and you're supposed to tell your buddy he's an idiot if he does that.
This commercial just touches on so much of what's wrong with the world today. We all agree that no one should grope a stranger, and that if you find out your 12 year old is beating up a 8 year old, you should whup his butt. No one needs Gillette to tell them that. The fact that kids are NOT allowed to settle their differences, is no doubt a big part of what is leading to all these school shootings. Being a bully is not okay, but standing up to a bully and busting his nose sure as heck IS okay, and it's also okay to bust a kid's nose if you catch him bullying a younger kid.
Boys WILL be boys. Men WILL men. Girls will be girls and women will be women, and that's exactly how it was meant to be. When you start telling boys they can't be boys, but need to be kinder, and gentler, and more in touch with their feelings and the feelings of those around them etc.... you end up with 1 of three things. A school shooter, a homosexual male, or a boy in a man's body that is no where near ready for the responsibilities of life, and needs a safe space when his candidate loses an election. Gillette seems to want more "men" like that... but I sure don't.

Wow, you are sure reading a lot into it that is not even suggested. Since when can a boy not be a boy and still have feelings? Who is telling boys they can't be strong? Or women they should not be feminine? You are just making this stuff up. The only message was don't be a jerk, a bully, or a pervert. My wife watched it and also wondered what the big debate is.

I'm sure you're right, PASkinner. The fact that 4X more people gave the video a thumbs down, than a thumbs up, assures me of that.
Maybe it just says something about the sad state of manhood in this country. Or the fact that every one seems to be looking for a reason to be angry. You can find people calling each other names over who is the best singer or athletes. So taking your cues from the internet might not be a good idea.

It seems if you have to tell all men already shaving to not be jerks around a women you have already failed at that goal!
That's pretty much it in a nutshell Law Dog.
White, heterosexual males in this Country have been taking a beating from various women's groups and most liberal sources for a long time. This commercial is more of the same. It assumes men need to be told not to act like cavemen because after all, we're just a bunch of insensitive, chauvinistic pigs.
If you try harder, can you find a more liberal news source?

Kind of felt sorry for the fellow but I knew a couple of the gypos and they had arms with biceps approximately the diameter of a power pole. Sometimes life lessons can be painful and his momma should have taught him better.
Zim
Great story, Zim ! I can see that happening clearly. I really like the whole NW area Like it a lot ! Tough characters are common in this neck of the woods, and they don't take no mess
That guy absolutely was obtuse in choosing those gypos to pester !
I'm still waiting for someone to point out something in the actual video that does any of what they say it does. Instead of "Let's boycott them because they pointed out that being a gentleman is better than being a dirtbag."
Right now I’m having amnesia and déjà vu at the same time. I think I’ve forgotten this before.
I guess we are still looking for an apology or accountability for the way the media took the me too movement and tried to destroy a man's life, instead it would seem their supporters are doubling down.
They would love to have celebrated great men in a comercial but "we couldn't find any."
Just look at the R Kelly fiasco going on now there is a TV series on now (Surviving R Kelly) accusing him of abusing a lot of the ladies and teens, protests at Sony studios to drop him from their record label the condemning of his record studio in Chicago. Did he do it, most likely it's true but he has never been convicted of anything yet so just think where this kind of thing could snowball into, the Salem witch hunt days all over.

"You are born a dirt bag if you are born with testicles but you don't have to be with gillette."
Where did you get that message? Can mascinity be toxic if it's used wrong? Sure, so can femimity. We are all born sinners, so all our facilities, male or female, are corrupted. Being a dirt bag or not is a choice that comes about because of what principles we decide to follow. We can take the high road, and be men of honor, or the low road and be angry neanderthals. Again, why are people ticked off by someone saying they can be better? We all have room for improvement. Our society has become increasingly rude, until the standard debate on the 'net between anyone of two different opinions soon degrades into calling each other obscene names. These are grown ups I'm talking about, and it's not just the liberals, it's both sides. In fact, it's a shame that people we call liberal had to be the ones to start the push back against widespread sexual harassment by many of their own people. Meanwhile, the people I usually respect, the religious, conservative right, were busy defending the president against multiple allegations of sexual misconduct. Sometimes I feel like I've fallen down the rabbit hole with Alice in wonderland and nothing makes sense, and I don't recognize my own people. Seems everyone is too busy screaming "libtard" and "Trump Lover" at each other to accomplish anything.

Do you really believe that they would spend that kind of money to target such a small percentage of population that fills the bill of bullying and "gropers"?

Is it small? No I believe they are targeting the majority of people, who they would assume would agree with this message no matter what their political affiliation, or religion, etc. Apparently they underestimated how angry and confused the majority is.

PAskinner. I appreciate your points. But, I think the reason that the majority is angry is because the commercial paints the majority as being toxic, uncaring males. The reality is that most people (men and women) are good, caring people. I'd hate to see a commercial that stereotypes other genders/ethnicities as much as this one does.
It's already gotten to the point where you have to be so careful what you say to the opposite sex for fear they may turn it against you if you are a male. All of these ads are aimed at white males being the perpetrator. I USED to buy a lot of Gillette products (after shave, cologne, deodorant, etc). They just lost a customer. What trash!
The difference between animals and humans is that animals would never let the dumbest ones lead the pack.

I can see that happening in Yaak ! I don't know what would be worse. The yanking of hair by the roots or the specter of that saw coming towards your head.
Who would be dumb enough to be disrespectful in a crowd like that ? !

Every one is born toxic. There are no good people. It's called sin. We have to be taught what is right behavior. I never even paid attention to skin color in the commercial. There is only one race as far as I'm concerned. In a world where porn sites now get more traffic the Netflix, I would say yes, American men have a problem. Like I said before, it blows my mind that the right is upset about somebody pointing out that we need to take the moral high road. We used to be the leaders in that regard. What happened to the moral majority?
Right now I’m having amnesia and déjà vu at the same time. I think I’ve forgotten this before.
Btw, "there are no good people in the eyes of God", simply because thinking of sin is seen by God. Not so much for people. A kid that voluntarily mows the lawns of veterans in the neighborhood is seen as a good kid because they see that instead of the chicken choking going on.

Chicken choking? I have no idea what you're talking about. It isn't just because God sees our thoughts. It's because we are all sinners by birth, and will always struggle with a sin nature. Assuming we even struggle instead of just giving in.

The biggest issue I see with the ad is it targets the common working man more then anything else, remember what started this "movement" it was not the working stiff. Where are the Hollywood directors, producers and actors? Also the Politicians, CEOs and not a peep about the Music industry that is one of the biggest promoters of female abuse.
The next time "Ice Chip" makes a song about kicking them "witches" and slapping them "garden tools" will the elite say it's a great piece of art then?

You might not pay attention to race, but Gillette obviously did. See many minorities in these toxic men???
Ya know, the most surprising thing to me is that Gillette is still in business after all these years, I tried their safety razor blades in high school and the throw away some years later and the Foamy stuff a couple times; every Gillette product I ever tried in 50 years of dealing with facial hair was at best inferior. Did they change or are there just that many people that have soft whiskers?
>and yes I noticed the racism in the video, but we expect that don't we?

White, back then the local folks were a bit jumpy as a guy at a fire tower had been dismembered by a group of devil worshipers. From time to time you would see them along the road in remote places, their faces were painted white. Folks from California were already streaming in, yep way back then. I stagged my pants, wore suspenders and chewed Copenhagen just so as to fit in. Refined my poker playing skills and learned to like whiskey too. I never met a finer group of people than I did there, if you were a decent person yourself you did not have to look for a friend, they were right there.
What grinds my gears about most commercials and tv shows nowadays, is that all men are portrayed as stupid and inept.
My dad griped about this when I was a kid...
Remember the Robitussin commercial where mom is sick in bed... And dad shows off how he ironed his shirt, but scorched the back of it, and then he and the kids wreck the house?
Most commercials and sitcoms portray men as bumbling morons who can barely tie their shoes... Especially if they're white heterosexuals.

Yes sir, Zim, there are lots of folks in the area who would be there to help out if needed . Thats just how the folks are at every gun range in this area, as well as others I know. Good down home regular people , polite, friendly, and true to the west, believe in an armed society being a polite one.
Those strange ones are never even heard about . I haven't and Ive been here a while and know many locals that were born here. Must have been like that one fella, and pestered the wrong folks Maybe that helped the wrong folks from moving in, too .....
Many from CA moved away, as back then, the summers were wet and very cool and often cloudy....hence the huge conifers that grace the area to this day. Not the hot sun climates they expected.
Lots of woods, mountains, sleepy little towns here and there....
What grinds my gears about most commercials and tv shows nowadays, is that all men are portrayed as stupid and inept.

If minorities or women were portrayed the way white, heterosexual men typically are portrayed in commercials, the liberals would go insane. Most of the greatest inventions off all time were invited by white men. We are now supposed to be ashamed of acknowledging that fact.

Gillette, it’s for pussies. Don’t forget to shave your (This word is unacceptable on Trapperman)...cat.
My moral compass is really spinning on this one. Im still trying to figure what common sense is. I mean common sense --- not the meaning of the word is is, lol.
I doubt any advertiser is interested in whats right or whats wrong, just the biggest spenders.
An old saying is "those who forget the past are condemned to repeat it". It was used by many leaders to get their point across and then one guy named Jim Jones used it as his slogans on signs on the back of his inside and outside thrones. It worked well with his brainwashing techniques. Blackmail is a powerful tool, whether its one individual or or country of individuals. once people do a few stupid things then not only are they held accountable forever but maybe anyone resembling them. Was that Lady Justice that was blind? Why cant boy scouts just be boy scouts anymore, Seems everything has to have a twisted moral these days. When people do things even after they repent and pay, they still never can get loose from some particular crowds. Once the stink gets out of a skunk it cant be put back in. How many men do you know that could swing across a stage naked on a wrecking ball and recover. Maybe the better question is how many would want to in the first place? Seems Apostle Paul had a problem in Acts 21 and 22 where he was spread out a little thin. Anyone who stands for right will always be pulled, and there he finds the meaning of Grace.
Gillette, it’s for pussies. Don’t forget to shave your (This word is unacceptable on Trapperman)...cat.
I shave my face about once a week, around the whiskers. Seem to be a lot of ultra sensitive males on here that are offended that I'm not offended. Kinda amusing when you think about it. But, find your safe space and hug your teddy bears for awhile and you'll feel better.

It's been obvious for a few years now that there is a direct assault against our Western/Judeo/Christian culture and its values. The assault demonstrated in this Gillette commercial goes even beyond that, and would offend the sensibilities of people in most other cultures as well.
However, this is really just an insult on our intelligence; as though they think this is going to really change the way people think. I don't get too worried about stuff like this, this faulty way of thinking is not sustainable, truth will win; I choose to take the long-term view, and not get too upset about it, it will right itself in the end.
So now we will need to wait for the ladies to hit on us then, not sure where this will take us in the future what's the new way we need to interact to be acceptable? Will we dance like a whooping crane flapping our arms like a fool (I know that strutting like a turkey won't work!) LOL

I though he was offended by the people that were offended?
Nope, you are quite free to be offended, but what happens when you are offended? Um, nothing at all. And what I said was the people are offended because I'm not offended. If I'm gonna be offended by a commercial, how about the many commercials that imply if you drink a certain beverage or buy a certain car, beautiful women will flock to you? Not only is it blatantly false, it makes all women look like bimbos and all guys look like mindless idiots. I'm offended, but I don't expect anyone to care, lol.

Ill never forget when "she" was interviewing Tom Selleck ... attacked him verbally about his affiliation with NRA....he took the high road and by the time it was over, it was obvious who the fool was.
He was dignified in maturity through the whole thing .
If you want to see some real toxic femininity on display, just google some pictures of today's women's march. I would post them here, but they're so disgusting I'd be banned for life.
I don't understand where these companies get their financial advice from, cereal boxes? To me it just seems insane to target your main consumer. Yes I know women shave too, but I have to believe men's products outsell women's. I've been wrong before, but why cut your market in half?

I could go on and on but you just don’t get it..go ahead and accept the premise of toxic masculinity! Obviously you are a toxic man. Gillette told me you are....and you are a trapper I assume..so definitely a toxic male. You need to be neutered.
I think its normal for a couple 8 year olds to find out who can whip who. Pretty common among high school boys too though at that age its easy for somebody to get hurt and it ought to be discouraged whenever that's possible.
when a woman puts on a pair of shorty shorts or other revealing clothing, she wants attention. she may claim otherwise but there is no other reason to do it. doesn't give a man the right to touch her. pretty sorry to whistle and make lewd comments also. if women were completely ignored when wearing sexy clothing like they claim they want, they would quit dressing provocatively
if women were not interested in a mans vehicle men would drive the cheapest one they could find. 90% of the 4wd diesel pickups and sportscars would go unsold.
pretty stupid to pretend men and women are wired the same.
Those who would give up essential liberty, to purchase a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety. Benjamin Franklin (1706-1790)
I don’t get caught up in all the social movements these days. The only movements I worry about is the one I take when I get up in the morning and the one after lunch. Don’t need a razor commercial to tell me to be a good person, or how live day to day. Raised knowing doing good deeds for fellow man and woman is what you do, because it’s the right thing to do. Shaving won’t take away toxicity. What you do every day as a human is what drives out any type of toxicity. It’s easy to hate. Wonder how many of you have called or sent gillete emails to show your displeasure with their ad, or sat behind your handles on social media jawing away. Don’t give them the attention, you’ve created ten pages of ads on here for them, that’s free advertising
